I left a little early but...

The O won the scrimmage IMO.

They move Berry all over the field at times.

Crompton looked really good to me. Nothing spectacular but very steady. He did a very good job on play action and roll outs.

Lots of freshman playing on offense (NuKeese, Teague, Rogers, Oku, Brown).

Hancock, Jones and Warren all looked good.

Very impressed with what the offense (coaching) looked like. Lots of play-action passes with bootlegs.

Position Rankings:

QB

1. Crompton
2. Stephens... and the list stops with him

Rozier will never play at UT and Lamaison has a LONG way to go.

RB

1. Poole- Emmit Simth is the best comparison. He's not the fastest or quickest but he had two very long runs and a TD off a screen... very shifty.

2. Hardesty- Played very little but looked strong and quick.

3. Oku- Looks to be the fastest, quickest and plays with surprising power. He has a wow factor and looked really, really good at times.

4. Brown- Had a nice TD. Solid but not spectacular. Put it this way, if he wasn't so highly touted he wouldn't stand out.

WR's

Nukeese played a lot, so did Teague. Nukeese is tiny and they both look very good for freshman. They'll both play this year.

Hancock and Warren looked good especially for possession type receivers.

Jones had a long catch from Crompton that stood out.

Don't remember any drops off the top of my head.

I was up in the shade so it was tough to pick out anyone on D because it was hard to see the numbers.

Great update. Thanks.

I think all in all this was a very good scrimmage. I can't wait to hear the coaches comments.

Thanks....I know the O won but I think the D was not playing like they want....I am sure Monte was just experimenting some....

It is good to see the O showing improvement though.

Berry didn't play a lot and Rico was out so I'm sure that helped...

or is brown so highly touted if he doesnt wow you and do superhuman things he doesnt stand out as much.. and since poole and oku arent really surprises but you dont expect it so early on you see them a bit diffrently

Thanks for the update. That's good to read, because everyone is expecting the opponent to overplay the run, so reading that they are planning to use lots of play action passes and bootlegs should work well.

Little disappointed Brown doesn't look dominant, but he did have a slight concussion on Friday.

From everything I have seen and read from people who have seen practice from day one, OKU has been more impressive than BROWN to this point. Hopefully both will continue to improve throughout practice and be play makers come game time. I don't think there is any question though that OKU has a chip on his shoulder and is outperforming BROWN up to this point. Funny thing about compitition...it tends to bring out the best in everyone...Shame the former staff didn't believe in this philosophy.

im so happy we landed Oku, dont get me wrong i am so excited about BB, but Oku is going to tear it up in the SEC as well.

You got to love that we have so much freshman competition at the RB position. Toney Williams is no slouch either

I would say, based on watching in one scrimmage he just did nothing that stood out. If he was not named BB I would say #11 looks solid for a frosh likely a RS.

Oku appeared in this scrimmage, faster, quicker and played with more power and aggression.

It's all opinion based on one scrimmage...

Just the 4th day of practice too. So Brown will have his time to shine.

No, just no.

People were talking about Oku maybe red shirting. Now look at the conversation. Neither was ever a possibility of red shirting once we got down to 4 backs...

Yes, just yes. I said IF he wasn't BB and he was an average frosh he would be a likely RS based on today.

Of course BB won't RS.

I understand that is your opinion based on what you saw today. I wasn't trying to attack it.

Just stating mine. Not a chance any RB would redshirt this year.

How on earth do you know that? This staff hasn't been in place long enough to give you (or me) a sense of what they'll do at the QB position.
