Watched every down of the game today and had some thoughts.

1) There may not be a more passionate player in college football today than Eric Berry. Crompton had to be told to get off the bench and go pump up his team. Berry lit the team on fire on the sideline and, though I don't know it, I doubt he had to be told to do so. He deserves the heisman he won't get.

2) Rebuilding year. Strong freshman classes send the fans expectations through the roof but it doesn't send the team 2 years into the future. You guys are well on track for something special with these kids.

3) This team is better in almost every way than the one fielded last year with Phillip Fulmer. Probably a lot of reasons for this, I'll let you choose one. I choose Kiffin. He's passionate and more importantly he's the right man for the job.

4) Monte. I don't know how to feel about the Defense. They look tough as nails but they looked tough as nails (and were) last year. My gut says that a true freshman shouldn't be able to do what he did today against a defense that is supposed to be as close to the NFL as you can get.

5) We're very happy with how things are going right now at Alabama. With that said we lost half our games Saban's first year. It felt like you feel tonight. Kiffin deserves time. I can't wait for the 3rd Saturday in October the next few years with the talent he's churning out in Tennessee.

Bonus:
Kiffin would do himself (and the fans who have to work with Bama and Florida fans) a great service by not talking so much trash. When asked if he'd change anything he said "I put Tennessee in the news didn't I". This won't make any vol fan feel better on Monday when they have to listen to my ignorant bull**** for 8 hours.

Good post I like an outside point of view on this.I believe Pete Carroll went 6-6 or something like that his 1st year too.

His defense only gave up 186 yards of total offense.

I am not sure what you are referring to when you say a true freshman should not be able to do what he did against the TN defense. The TN defense was very good tonight. Just as last season, you can not put them on a short field time and time again and expect them to not give up any points.

All UCLA's QB had to do was not play as bad as Crompton...not much of a challenge. The defense was stellar tonight.

Exactly. They held UCLA to 4 FG's and a couple of them were pretty long. The only TD they gave up was on the InCromptonent pick at the 35. And even when the offense couldn't even get the ball in on four tries at the goal line, they got the ball back for the offense in the best possible scenario. The defense is doing their job. The special teams is doing their job.

If we go 6-6 I'll be surprised. If we can't beat UCLA, how can we expect to beat Georgia, Ole Miss, or even South Carolina.

If it was a team known for having a fairly productive offense than I would look at those 186 yards and say "wow, the D really contained them". I don't say that when it's UCLA and with a quarterback that played on Friday nights one year ago.

He's a redshirt freshman I believe.

Defense was on the field a lot and was put in a lot of bad situations due to TOs - they played good tonight.

I didn't think it was relevant to my 5 points but that damn kicker UCLA has is something else. His leg was on auto and with big time range.

I'm not so sure UCLA isn't better than UGA and USCjr at this point. Florida may be the only team in the SEC East that doesn't lose 4 or more games this year.

We should beat Ohio, Memphis, Vandy, Uk, and I still think we will give Auburn and SCAR good games(if Stephens plays)

Tough loss. I thought UT was going to pull it out in the end. I do have to say that I was a bit "underwhelmed" by the play calling from 1st & goal through fourth & goal on what could've and should've been the game winning drive. Also, I think Hardesty should've been toting the rock then instead of Brown. Good points by Birmingham. Don't lose heart. UT will be back to being UT. It'll just take a little time.

You're damn right about that one. I'm hoping the kicker commit we have looks as good as that kid. He could have kicked a 60 yarder no problem. Good grief.

Good points. Well articulated. Appreciate another SEC fan being polite on the forum, especially Alabama.

I'm hoping that we're going through Saban's first year instead of the two or three guys before him...

Unless you consider 3 or 4 years a little time.

I agree with everything you said. Despite the crap I talk, to try and get a rise out of some of you, this years team is above last years team, head and shoulders. Hang in there this year is going to be a bumpy ride.
