Why are we back to vanilla on offense, since the TE play early it's been lack luster.

Man it kills me how many ways can we find to lose a gm. We get in FG range and start going backwards. It just blows my mind how many chances we have had to take advantage of this gm and we can't do it.

Bet you wish you didn't start this thread now huh?

Let this be a lesson to the rest of you. Do not try to start threads solely for the purpose of trying to be the first. We are entering a new (old) era of TN football.........the game is not over until the clock runs out.

Worley still is very inaccurate at times, but the way this team competes is unreal. Neal has been a boss the last few games, and Palardy's confidence has never been better. CBJ is working magic right now, so sit back and enjoy.

I hate to beat an old horse, but when do you guys think we started going down hill? Specifically, like which game was the turning point? Music City Bowl?

Started when Cut left the first time. Sanders came in. That was the beginning. Then when Cut came back it healed the wound but then he left again. At this point a few things should have happened--either Fulmer gets fired or he is forced to hire a stud OC that is a HC in waiting. Neither happened and we got the Clawfense and Fulmer got an extension.

That was strike one.

Then we fired Fulmer and hired Kiffin. That was strike two.

Then we hired "he who shall not be named" and for the love of God that was strike 3,4, and 5.

It was by sheer luck honestly that we ended up getting Butch Jones and many (including myself) had been so hooked on the "soon" hype that when he was hired we got pissed and thought we had Dickhead 2.0. WE were wrong. The man can coach and we got lucky.

But that's how we got here. That and a booger eater took over...but that is a whole other story.

Cut was great here. I agree we got lucky with this hire. I think everything you said really equals up to what happened, but we beat #11 SC yesterday so that's the great thing about all of this. Hopefully we've started to turn the corner. :)

Pretty spot on IMO.
There is more than just that though.
Truth be known it wasn't a game that started our downward spiral.
It was Hammy trying to boost Academic stats the wrong way.
He set UT up to mirror Vandy's AD, thinking it would net their graduation rate.
It didn't, it brought U down to Vandy competition level.
Irony of irony, Vandy scrapped that plan in order to be more competitive.
Its not all Fakelin turning Vandy around, its them beang able to clear more kids with questionable moral and academic status.
Hamilton should have made Fulmer the assistant ad, and offered cutt the HC job to keep him. And, not made us Vandy esk
That is in the past, on to better days.
GBO, let's see some line domination by UT against Bama.

Hart did back into this hire and CBJ is going to be a good one

2001 SECCG is obvious answer, but 2005 for me

2005 preseason #3 after an unexpectedly good 2004 starting a season with 2 true freshman QBs ultimately finishing 5-6 with home loss to Dores in final game of season.

Recruiting class in 2005 was top 3 also but had a large number of misses

Lucky's hairy butt. The truth of the matter with this hire is Mike Hamilton did not make it after wasting money on a stupid search firm. Hammy could coordinate facilities upgrades all day long, but he made some dumb coaching decisions. HE was counting on luck with every hire and looked like an idiot doing it.

Dave Hart did his due diligence, and got the right guy. He didn't worry about a search firm, because he knows how to evaluate coaches. I wish everyone would quit referring to this hire as a stroke of luck, because it just isn't so. If any luck was involved, it was because Gruden, Strong, and Gundy said no.

That is exactly how we got lucky - Butch is THE Coach that we needed

Agreed, AJ. Only thing that bugs me is folks aren't giving Hart his props for making it happen.

I'm fine with giving Dave Hart credit for hiring Butch.

I can also acknowledge that Gundy and Strong probaly would have been decent hires while Butch has turned out to be a home run hire.

Not sure what kind of hire Gruden would be...probably better than Gundy/Strong, but not as good as Butch.

Recruiting is where Butch and his staff have blown me away.
