Like current Obama haters, Bush haters jumped on him for anything. There were criticisms of it being an ego thing, diverting huge resources for security, a slap in the face since he started the war, a cynical PR ploy, etc. etc.

obama needs to stop saying "michele and myself" instead of the proper "michele and I." I guess being "brilliant" hasn't helped him in this matter.

I've noticed that a lot of people make that grammatical mistake. One way around it is to take the other person out, another way is to pay attention to where the verb is in the sentence.

Here's a possible scenario...

It started with good intentions and went off track. A lot of people shy away from saying "xyz and me" because people are so often corrected to "xyz and I" when they were younger...even though "xyz and me" is OK a lot of the time. I know that I sometimes feel odd saying "xyz and me," even when I know it is correct.

So in instances where he might say "This was brought to Michelle and me" its possible he thought that sounded "off", so he went to "This was brought to Michelle and myself." While this is wrong, perhaps it "sounded" better. I googled "Michelle and myself" and "obama" and got a lot of responses where this was both subject and object in his sentences. I suppose its possible that he misuses it occasionally (or often) as the subject, instead of "Michelle and I".

when in doubt, take off the other person.

"Michelle and I are going to Roscoe's." "I am going to Roscoe's."
"Michelle and me are going to Roscoe's." "Me are going to Roscoe's."

"Tim is going to Roscoe's with Michelle and me." "Tim is going with me."

and so on.

The people that voted for obama can't tell thats a grammatical error, nor do they care. Barack looks so majestic (quote a teary eyed jesse jackson).

In all seriousness, I've always found replacing the xyz and I or xyz and me with we or us to be an effective way of making sure I am saying it correctly.

Anyone hear the audio on his speech in Iraq? Was that booing or what? I assume those were troops?

I haven't heard the audio, but I wouldn't doubt that some of the troops would be upset. But in the article that I read, it seemed that most of them were happy he was there and happy with his speech and such.
