1) Dobbs played only the first half. Looked accurate.

2) Preston Williams will be great if he can stay healthy

3) Jeff George is a stud but needs to gain a lot of muscle

4) Kamara and Hurd and John Kelly are fantastic

5) With 20+ injuries it's hard to tell where we really are

6) Just 67k people there, and tons people left after half time because it was pretty boring to be honest... Not a lot of actual football.

7) The special announcement was the permanent team captains this year which are JRM, Kamara, Dobbs, and Sutton

A few things that stood out to me...

1. Dobbs looked great throwing the ball, very accurate

2. Jeff George made some nice catches, at least 2 including a TD, where they threw it up to him

3. PWill with a couple of nice catches, 1 from Dobbs and evidently 1 from QD that the tv missed

4. Ethan Wolf with a 50+ yd catch and run on a seam route.

5. Circle of life didn't show much. Thought KMac and Richmond and Osborne each won their reps.

6. Taylor was all over the place defensively, as was Sapp. Gaulden is a missile, dropped Hurd for a loss in the backfield.

7. TKJr is just one of those guys with a nose for the ball. Had a pick of Dobbs on a well thrown ball the Croom beat up

8. The "big announcement", while really cool for the 4 permanent captains named, Dobbs, Kamara, Sutton and JRM, was a pretty big letdown for the fans I would say.

Highs:

Jeff George and Preston Williams looked good, and stood out among WRs.
Dobbs had good touch on the ball a few times and was able put it through a tight window.
TEs were involved throughout.
Defense brought pressure from several positions.
Bain.

Lows:

The "special announcement" disappointed those who allowed themselves to build it up.
Dormady looked off.
Two-hand-touch for Dobbs and the RBs didn't allow for a showcase of skills.
Punters competition was boring.
No Peyton. See special announcement.

Loved seeing George go up and get the ball. Good coverage and he snatched it out of the air. We've missed that type of aggression at the receiver position.

I don't say much here very often. But I have to say I had a really good time at the game. The summaries by most of the people on this thread have actually been very good. Shoop is right, Sapp is going to be awesome! Corey Vereen is playing so good and Jeff George really surprised me today. He may not be as physical as he needs to be yet but he has really good hands. All of the quarterbacks looked much more accurate today. It was the spring game, it is what it is. I had a good time.

Why did people think the special announcement had something to do with Peyton Manning? Why are they upset because they allowed their imagination to run wild?

Only because he jumped the line before the snap and the refs didn't care enough to call it.

Yeah, what was the big deal with that....I mean Tennessee has only named a few players Permanent Captains since it's existence. Why would true Big Orange Fans be excited about that :dry:

Yes, because they were named permanent captains which isn't the usual.

Of course I didn't believe that we were going to hire Manning as a position coach or announce the number 1 recruit way before the recruiting period was over. So basically, I was just happy/proud for the guys that worked so hard to earn this and hadn't built false hopes for an entitled fanbase. :hi:

I don't understand this forum sometimes. I read post after post about how we have way too many players injured. But then I enter the spring game thread and read about people complaining about the two hand touch and the snooze fest. I guess people are going to complain no matter the circumstances

I had the sound off on my TV - could someone fill me in on why all the QBs had knee braces on - I was a little worried when I saw Dobbs wearing one -- is it some kind on new safeguard ?

Does that even need to be a question on VN? I suspect there were a few secretly hoping Gruden would be announced as the new HC.
