It does seem like a reach for that money, but, to put it in perspective, yesterday people were talking about the hiring the likes of Tee Martin or Kevin Steele. ESPN was featuring a headline that an aging NFL TE with no coaching experience whatsoever wasn't interested in the job, as if that were a real possibility.

Gundy is definitely a step up from the Dooley-like hires that have been thrown around since Currie created the Schiano mess. If it takes that much to get someone who at least has a chance of being good, don't you have to do it?

Sunday caused the prices of coaches to go up. Simple economics. More bull**** you gotta deal with the more the price goes up.

Go read other message boards. They are not laughing at Gundy. They are worried he will take the job. First time they haven’t laughed at us all season.

Petersen or Patterson both are a much option than Gundy is. Both would jump at $8M a year. I just find it hard to believe they are offering Gundy that.

Lol! We are the worst team in the league and it's not even close. We are lucky our fans are so loyal and our AD has that kind of money to hire a homerun.

I would totally be onboard giving that much money to Chris Petersen, David Shaw, and Gus Malzahn (if Aub loses to UGA)

I would love for it to come out and reported they told us no....

Seriously after this complete dumpster fire caused by Currie we are lucky we aren't getting the head coach from Kansas David Beaty.. This is all caused by our admin ignoring our football program and allowing certain boosters to turn this into their own private playground. This MUST stop and we must hold them accountable and we are forced to pay this now in order to have ANY chance at restoring this proud program. #firecurrie #nohaslams

He's absolutely a HR hire and worth the 6-7 Million we offered. Offering Frost, Tee, Norvell or a few others 6-8 mill then that would be overpaying.

Highly doubt either would jump for 8 Mill. Both are exactly where they want to be.
