Now we know why Ainge........

I noticed Ainge wasn't the same after that hit. I questioned the screen pass on 3rd and long, but if Cut. called a pass down field and Ainge chose to pass to the "out" because his finger was hurting, that's when he needs to say, I can't pass down field, let's try some slants or tight end hot routs... or let crompton come in and throw down field. This sounds like a lack of communication and poor judgement on Ainge's part.

I think that you make him show you that he can throw the balls he needs to throw on the sidelines before you put him back out there if you have suspicions that he is not OK but can't accept not playing.

so if Cutcliffe is the QBs coach, and he's in the booth, which coach is responsible for checking on a QB and making sure he's able to go back in the game?

I caught the sports animal show out of K-town yesterday and they made a good point, Cut chose plays over playmakers while Cal was the exact opposite: the plays weren't magical the play makers were. With Cal's d-line we should have tried to outplay them not out think them. Screw the trick plays and pound it in!!

100% Correct Ninjamanchild.

Or maybe the guy down field was not open. Ever think of that?

Hindsight is always 20/20. I'm pretty torqued that Cutcliffe doesn't do the heavy thinking during the game. The UT coaches stay married to their gameplan for too d****d long imho.

not to nit pick, but i think i remember reading where Cut made similar comments about Ainge on that series after the hit...that he "knew he wasn't right" etc....

Eric is so fragile...at the Outback Bowl in January I was watching the linebackers hit Ainge when he would roll out and I swear I thought he would snap in two. Watch him this week when he gets hit, he look sin pain all the time. He will not last the season.

But to assume that he could not throw the ball down field and chose to dump it just doesn't seem to be the kind of kid he is. If the guy was open I would think he would have tried to hit him. He was looking down field and came back to his outlet.

Odd. You really don't hear anything about it immediately after the game, or anytime really, like it's no big deal. But, the story does pop up like it is sort of like a Phil Excuse Line without having to go on record whining about it.

Oh yeah, by the way, we kind of had an injury during the game and left him in...that's why we couldn't finish off the comeback...oh well...next week.

Propaganda to divert criticism and heat away from an ill coached loss and onto a SR. injury prone QB. And by seasons end they'll start singing to the durability of JC like anything that may not be a bed of roses this year can follow EA out the door.

See! It doesn't matter what is said. CPF and the staff will be called whiners, not saying anything. How you could get that from this is simply amazing.

That's the most ridiculous thing I've read, I think in my whole life. You think that's what our coaches are doing after that loss? Sitting around thinking of a grand scheme to divert attention away from them? If that were the scope of my football intelligence, I'd quit watching football and start watching Tennis, it's easier to keep up with.

Isn't that what everyone here always complains about. Phil side steps. Never says what he really should. Makes excuses. Clap. Clap. I read that stuff on here all the time. That post just fits right in.

Also, don't be an idiot. If you think that post defines football intelligence, you just completed your own critique. If any of you 2 ever read any of my other posts, you'd know what that post was. If that was the scope of my intuitive intelligence, I'd quit posting.

Nope, just a dumb post. We've all done them and this is one. Last year I predicted a big win against UF simply on a gut feeling. I was wrong and it was a dumb post.

that was my initial reaction to the play as well.

That's a more acceptable rebuttle. It may have been written "dumb" but the point was it always seems that items get in the news after the fact reasoning out performance, or lack there of, to soften the blow. I'd like to hear just for once that we got outmanned or outcoached, and we're going to fix it. Not all the fluff. There are many complaints here of that nature.

Cutcliffe said Ainge’s injury has certainly affected his play calling.

“I had to think a little bit more,” Cutcliffe said. “I had about ten notes in front of me that I kept to remember.”

The pinky strikes again. Why? If the guy is hurt (pinky/shoulder) and it is affecting your play calling and ability to hand the ball off to a running back, why risk it?

This isn't second guessing or Monday morning QB, just a serious question. We haven't made a serious threat downfield with a pass all season and he can't hand the ball off safely.
