i hate to sound pessimistic but we have alot of expectations now. which we havent really had all year long.


plus everyone on t.v. is killing us like we held a gun the the ncaa's head and made them give us this seed.


i just dont want us to choke. i can see this team going a long way, if we get hot.



what do yall think about the whole pressure stuff????

lol. i think it is a legitimate question. i am not bashing the team. i just want to know everyone's honest opinion.

all biased's aside. how will we really do here?

No doubt the pressure is on. Add ESPN's all access crew following them around throughout the tournament along with everything else.

So I guess the question is how will they handle that pressure?

Some would say that we've broken under pressure here in the late season... but I would like to point out two pressure situations, where we were the favorite/higher ranked team in someone else's house... @Rupp, and @the O-dome. Our guys stepped up to the pressure in those games, they have the ABILITY to do so... besides that, you could argue that all the talk about how we SHOULDN'T be seeded as high as we are is effectively taking OFF pressure. Depends on the attitude you take towards it, and how you look at it.

The NCAAT is due a 15 over 2 upset and they figured this would be a good matchup for that, a questionable 2 against a questionable 15. I hope we prove them wrong.

be assured CBP will spin it to the guys that they have no pressure on em, theyre expected not to succeed, and to just play ball.

The Tennessee team that played Texas could beat ANY team in the tournament. All I want is for THAT team to show up Thursday.

Pressure's on. Everyone wants us to fail bad now. Get hot early or we may be in trouble.

I am happy to be seeded this high, but I am scared as crap for them. Hopefully it's not too much to deal with. I kinda think we were set up in a way. All the "No respect" comments and it maybe the committee said ok here you go, see what you can do with this.

So we wait.

You know, I was starting to get depressed with all the negative backlash about our tournament seeding, then I thought - WHO CARES WHAT ANYBODY ELSE THINKS??? I am so proud of these guys and our coach. Let the naysayers say all they want - we'll do our talking on the COURT!!

GO VOLS!!! BEAT WINTHROP!!

I hear you LIO. That's the same team that took it to UF twice, and ate up UK at Rupp. If THAT Tennessee team shows up for the tourney, we'll be in good shape. Our shooting percentage has gone down badly in the late season, causing a domino effect killing our game plan of full court ball pressure. If we don't make the shots on our end, we wind up giving up easy baskets on the other end.

Saw Total Access on ESPN tonight - showed CBP talking to team saying stuff about lots of people doubting them and their #2 seed and how it was up to them to prove them wrong and bring it home. At least that's the way I heard it. I can't decide if it relieved pressure to win or if it could be taken as more pressure to live up to expectations. Am curious what others think of what he said to team.
Also, on Vol Calls he said when team went down to TX, CJ was intent on proving he was as good or better than Daniel Gibson and Major wanted to show that he could play with somebody? (can't remember name). CBP said we need to "get that back!!!"

The unselfish part of me ( yes, OWB, there IS an unslfish side of me!) wants the guys to go and have the most fun they have ever had in their lives, win or lose. The selfish side of me wants them to go and take no prisoners.

I agree, but this was response to CBC wanting to know how others felt about the pressure of a #2.

I agree with you...when we started to lose in the late season i was getting upset, but then i thought, This Tennessee was predicted to go to the NIT by all the pre-season magazines. We have a 21-7 record. Thats pretty darn good for a team that was predicted to go to the NIT. Now we find ourselves with a number 2 seed. Even if we get upset in the first round to Winthrop, I'll still be satisfied with our season, players and especially our coach.

I don't think pressure will get to them. Pretty easy road to the Sweet 16. You might get beat by a better team then, but not because of pressure, probably be size that gets you.

Go to the NIT? What preseason mags were you reading? I was under the understanding that we'd be lucky to win 10 games.

Or Lofton being held to nothing... I have to apologize to you about that topic from last week LG, I saw the light against USC. We really do depend on Chris to score.

I was under the same understanding. I figured we would go .500 at best, no one thought we'd even have a chance at the NIT. People were saying if we had a winning record and made it to the NIT then he did an incredible job here.
