Knew from preseason and did . . . nothing. It's sort of interesting to look back on preseason interviews with her this past season. I remember thinking how she always looked extremely tense, almost seemed to dread the upcoming season. I really think she already knew the staff had made some serious misjudgments concerning the character of the team. Her body language does seem very different now. Hopefully that's the sign of exciting times to come.
The favorite topic of drive-by-football posters who are oblivious to the ongoing discussion and believe that their exhausted and exhausting top of the head statement offers some grand, novel insight. The topic that just keeps on giving, give it a damn rest ...
Funny how during the preseason, everyone said CKC looked excited, confident and you could really tell she had grown into the job and was ready to kick @ss!!!It's sort of interesting to look back on preseason interviews with her this past season. There's only some truth to that she got the 13 players she wanted out of the portal. You don't think there was players not interested or she didn't have the money ? Almost guaranteed she never got everyone one she wanted and settled for what she had resources for. Had it not been for the imploding and even so don't think she gets past year 4 without steady improvement.Whiners?? She better hope they are good. We shall see next year if this system works. There will be no excuses this time around as all these players were hand selected by Coach Kim. I hope she is very successful. Go Lady Vols.
In my mind at least, she’s going to have to do more with what’s she got. Some people think this roster is a ton better than last year, which means she should do better than last year. Others think the roster is so-so, which means she’s going to have to do more with less. Either way, I would hope that the goal is that she needs to do better than her previous two years. She gets a mulligan for last year, but she has to start competing at the top at some point by year 3.There's only some truth to that she got the 13 players she wanted out of the portal. She was very competitive the first year with the top teams but then the head scratchers were just hard to grasp. I think if she can finish 8-8 in conference she gets another year but it would need to have a significant increase year 4 to get another. DW wants winning coaches and not just above 500 but timing is everything when making changes. In my mind at least, she’s going to have to do more with what’s she got. We know how the world goes and everything said in the pre-season is quickly erased by the flood of social media narratives and hot takes that unfold during the actual season BUT.....In my mind at least, she’s going to have to do more with what’s she got. If he is a good AD, I’d think he would already have plans in place for either outcome next year. It’s not like he would be caught off guard after this last year. If no improvement, then he should have a list of people ready to call. If major improvement, then he should have the money people ready to give more. If he is fine with another 8-8 year, then he thinks that middle of the pack in the SEC is fine. I tend to believe that the last scenario is the most likely case. She was very competitive the first year with the top teams but then the head scratchers were just hard to grasp. Winning would solve a lot. Even if close, a loss is still a loss. I know my opinion doesn’t matter but if she has her players and her coaches, then she has no excuses not to win more.We know how the world goes and everything said in the pre-season is quickly erased by the flood of social media narratives and hot take that unfold during the actual season BUT.....
One would think if things don't go great next season, it would be hard for CKC to suddenly claim these aren't her players or the kind of players she needed for the system. Given that they all had to pass rigorous "heart" and character tests, the team "quit" excuse might also ring a little hollow.
If it goes well, of course, then all is good. Winning solves all problems.
He doesn't strike me as the type of person to not be prepared for either situation. Probably has a list of coaches for each sport. You just don't know who is going to leave at anytime. Elander for the baseball coach was a easy decision because he was on a lot of list to be hired away. He's a first time head coach and is settling in and showing great promise but only time will tell how successful he will be.If he is a good AD, I’d think he would already have plans in place for either outcome next year.
