Not Urben Meyer, but none other than Nick Saban.

Here's the deal: Meyer basically turned down ND once and the once proud program hasn't forgotten. The scuttlebutt here in Alabama is that Mrs. Saban is not too happy in Tuskalossa (wonder why). Saban is Catholic and has Mid-West ties. Plus Saban has an escape clause in his contract.

Notre Dame is determined to do it right this time. I think Jimmy Sexton already has some South Bend phone numbers on his caller ID!!

Obviously never going to happen, but would be the funniest thing to see Bama meltdown.

I could hear it now.... I'm not going to ND, I'm not going to ND, I'm not going to ND, and I'm not going to ND.

Money talks.......and the Irish have a dump truck full of it with their own network. Saban, with Jimmy C. and Golden Tate back next year would have them in a BCS Bowl. No doubt about it.

Stay tuned.

Rockydoc do you actually think this is a possibility or are you just trying to stir the pot?

If he wins the NC this year and if Notre Dame comes after him hard enough.......he's gone. Sexton got the no buyout clause in his contract for a reason.....and I don't think he would ever go back to the pros. The bama people know this. I think Nick would seriously consider ND or Michigan.

How many times do I have to say it?

If ND can offer over $4 Mil/year and Saban can get the guaranteed money from Bama, he's gone. He would be stupid not to. I'm sure Bammers will come on here and flame this thread, but Saban is a "Money Talks" kind of guy. It is what it is.

He would be dumb not to. Easy to recruit (or the same as Bama), happier wife, getting BCS bids with mediocre seasons, favorable poll status, nice talent to start with, more money....he would be stupid not to if they gave the right offer.

In reality it is slim to none Saban leaves Bama. I'm just saying it isn't out of the realm of possibility, especially if the money is right.

Don't think it would happen. They think that midget is the second coming of the Bear down here and we all know that Bama can come up with cash if they have to. Plus, I want Kiffin to own his A@@ I the next few years.

OTOH, the meltdown of the entire state of Alabama would be epic...

Whether it's Saban or Meyer, maybe Kelly, Notre Dame is about to make someone a very rich man. It would be great if Saban up and left though. The riots in the trailer parks would be epic.

Finish in the top 14 and guaranteed BCS bowl game, NBC TV contract, probably an even larger raise, yeah, I could see him going to Notre Dame.

You know ND can offer a larger paycheck....and do you really think Saban would pass up a larger paycheck at an institution with the resources and history of ND?

I think this makes just as much sense as ND going after Meyer or Kelly. Maybe more sense when you think that ND has a good offense but is in serious need of defensive talent and coaching. Who is better at recruiting defensive players than Saban, and you have to admit he knows how to run a D when he has the players. You could also argue that Saban would be the better recruiter for ND. It's easy to get FL kids to stay around Gainesville, but how easy is it to convince a kid to spend their college years in Tuscaloosa or South Bend?

At any rate, we can hope....
