Let’s say in 2009 Notre Dame has another mediocre season.

Let’s also assume Florida has another great season, maybe a one loss team, possibly a repeat National Champion.

In this scenario Weis is likely to be fired by the end of the season, while Meyer is riding high on another stellar performance. With Tebow graduating, UF has nowhere to go but down, still solid but not winning another title. Does Urban Meyer quit while he’s ahead and sign the coveted golden contract with Notre Dame?

The perfect time to do so would be at this point, to sign a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract ensuring a long tenure with the Fighting Irish in order to make them a powerhouse again. Seems to be the best window of opportunity as far as timing is concerned.

If UM did leave UF the Vols would have an even better chance of landing quite a bit more Florida recruits. Also the ensuing meltdown in Gainesville would be entertaining.

Maybe 2009 is the year that Gator fans really hope that Notre Dame has a great season.

I would like to see how other people view this situation because I may just be delusional.

When CCW is canned, Notre Dame will be beating down CUMs door and he will end up going to ND. I would love to have a home and home series with ND.

I think the window is there, and the window is huge. The odds of this happening I would imagine are pretty high. CUM could pretty much sign his retirement contract with ND. He would have an easier schedule than he does at UF, and get better media bias than he already does at UF. If the opportunity arose, CUM would be insane not to take it, considering he has no ties to UF but plenty to ND.

Also how great would it be if UT beats UF this year, and on top of that UF has an unexpected down year. Gator fans would be jumping off buildings down in G'ville. CUM leaving on a sore not, bad season, and UT on the rise. That would be a dream.

Believe me, If UF has another steller season and ND falls on its face once again and fires Weiss...Urban will be able to name his price...Seriously...UF can not pay him what ND could...That's a benefit of being an independent in football...You get to keep all the cash you make...So if Urban wants a 5 million dollar a year deal...He will get it...and then some...ND is a proud traditional school and is in dire straits to bring that lost glory at any cost...A good Notre Dame team is good for all of college football...I hate saying that but its true.

Tebow graduates after another successful year. Urban sees the writing on the wall.. Cashes big check from the Catholic school.. irrelevant for the rest of his career.

Don't forget about Gruden. He even mentioned that he might try college football. There was rumblings that ND would make the move after signing day, but their AD smashed that talk. I think Gruden could be a wild card for landing at ND.

Why not CUM to ND, and Gruden to UF? Its just a short move from Tampa.

ND will offer major money to meyer if they fire Weis this year. They have an unlimited bank account and can go to $6 mil per year if needed, which UF can't afford.

My thoughts exactly.

It could definitely happen. Meyer has publically said that ND would be his "dream job." I would love to see it because I would love to hear the crying in Gainesville.

But I also long for the day when UT fans don't have to look forward to opposing coaches leaving the SEC

CUM is going no where, unless it is to the NFL. I can not see him going to ND regardless of the money. Now if Texas or So Cal came calling in a few years...that is possible, as he stays in fertile recruiting territory, at warm weather schools, with recent winning traditions. The lure of ND football just is not what it used to be to kids playing today, South Bend is freaking cold, with ice and snow from December to at least mid April. It is also not known as a college town. I am going to watch with interest how the LB from Hawaii likes winter in South Bend.
Quite frankly I hope CUM stays at fla as I look forward to watching him walk across Neyland Stadium in 10 to congratulate CLK and the VOL staff on a victory. The only thing sweeter than that would be saban doing the same or it all happening next season at the swamp.

So it seems a possibility at least. It will be entertaining if it does indeed unfold.

Yes, because Lord knows Bowling Green and Utah have palm tree's, and a fleet of pure, raw, talented RB's, WR's, LB's, and DB's just walking the street like in south Florida....
