Notre Dame trying to intercept Tennessee?

I agree that ND is more prestigious, but the expectations in Knoxville are so much more than at ND that it is laughable. the people in Knoxville are so unrealistic that we are getting on a coaching carousel that will take 10 - 12 years to slow down and 15 to stop.

Tennessee has the most patient fanbase of any major school. We've only had 3 coaches in my lifetime and 2 of them served FDR-like terms.

Higher expectations in Knoxville v. ND? No--they expect a national championship every year. It's their right.

I think the biggest difference between the two is the fact Notre Dame fans don't bail out on their team like some Tennessee fans have done. This is a rough stretch for Tennessee football. The fans shouldn't have checked out, IMO.

Tennessee bailed on Fulmer becUse it was the only route to change. Much like ND bailed on Willingham, Davie, Faust and now Weis.

BS. We have not resorted to pelting our team with objects from the stands like they have.

I'm going to chalk this up to you drinking too much booze, and not watching enough football and/or Sports Center.

Flaws with your post include:

As a whole, we have not bailed on our team; the passion on the board is testament to that. We have bailed on the coach.

You are comparing the fan base as a whole at ND to a few TN fans. I am sure I can find “some” ND fans that have bailed.

It won't be ND throwing $$$$$, it will be some NFL team desperate for a winner hauling truck loads of it to Meyers door. On top of that, he might not even have to move, although he might build a bigger house.

Jacksonville is getting restless.

With the injury situation in Jacksonville, I doubt Del Rio is sent packing after this season. He has had enough success that they will chalk this season up to bad luck with injuries. He will almost certainly get another year.

Is he in the last year of his contract?

Is he in the last year of his contract?

Yes, his current contract runs out in 2008. I should have worded it better. I think he will still get a contract extension despite the troubles this year. I could obviously be wrong. I have no inside info. I just think there have been too many things that have gone wrong outside of his control and they will take that into consideration.

I don't see it.

Yeah, I am just speculating. However, if they win another NC this year it may get interesting. Assuming, they put on a show that is not all about Tebow running the ball in the NC game. I do not believe it is likely but one day some NFL team will.

No, he signed an extension this off season. JDR better not get fired. That would be about as stupid as it was to fire Coughlin a few years back.

I knew his contract was running out in 2008. Was not aware that he already signed an extension. I think now it is even less likely he gets fired.

This guy Hamilton's first choice the whole time? He may be a good coach, but he's no Urban Meyer at Utah.

If kelly is Hamilton's 1st choice since the beginning, then I would second guess my own confidence in him.

Indeed...he's accomplished way more than Meyer at Utah.
