Notre Dame fans.

i'm a domer... obviously =)

notre dame has the most widespread fanbase since they are televised nationally and independant (so they can schedule games from coast-to-coast... i.e. Baltimore (Navy) to L.A. (USC)). Of the 9 games that drew over 5 million viewers this year, 4 of them were Irish games.

Out of curiosity, do you misspell independent out of disrespect or ignorance?

ignorance.

i'm an engineer, not an english major... although, i did score a 36 on my ACT in the english section. it was honestly a typo b/c i was on the phone at the time i was typing it, and hence, multitasking... but i don't want to sound like i am making excuses, so there you have it: ignorance.

edit: honestly, though, dependant is a variant of dependent, per all dictionary references. so, my error wasn't really an error.

It doesn't hurt that their fanbase encompasses an entire religion, either.

true... although most of the Irish fans that I know are not even Catholic at all (like myself)

LSU actually has more Catholic players on its roster than Notre Dame.

That explains your logic.

Your posts read like that of an engineer. I'll take you for your word.

I live about 25 miles from South Bend so I am forced to hear about the Irish it seems every single minute or some kind of reminder of them. I constantly try to defend the Vols or the SEC up here but I am sadly outnumbered, I do have a SEC backer but sadly he is a Florida grad.

The Irish have tradition, the Notre Dame Broadcasting Channel (NBC) and a large following even overseasm maybe it the gipper or the horseman, I dont know. South Bend doesn't compare to Knoxville on gameday but they do put on a good show.
