Noticed two particular positives from Pruitt's Press Conference

I don't think he has ever been part of a losing program. That was the part of the problem of Jones. He was fine just being ok, or better than you had been. He had never been part of an elite program. Dooley was just a buffoon. He had been part of an elite program just didn't have the skills to run an elite program. Pruitt is just different. He doesn't seem like he will ever be ok just competing. He wants to win at all costs.

To me, my favorite and arguably the most significant comment of the whole presser was one where he was half-joking. He said that he approaches each game the same regardless of whether he is a head coach, coordinator, or playing 18-holes off golf. He is out there to win and he expects to win. That is a comment you would never hear from Butch Jones in Year 1, Year 2, or Year 3. Heck he barely made comments like that in Year 4 when we were a prohibitive SEC East favorite and a dark-horse for the playoff. Butch stuck to his round-about cliches and coach speak. Pruitt is straight-forward and honest and to me that says a lot about the confidence he has in himself and in the team.

Maybe something... maybe not much.

In response to a Rucker question, he was almost defensive in saying that UT has a bunch of guys playing (ostensibly well) at the S spot. Earlier when asked about bringing pressure he said that the secondary determined what you could do on D (when scheming QB pressure). He also responded almost defensively about the CB's practicing against some pretty good WR's. One, it sounds like he thinks the secondary can hold its own. Two, sounds like he's kind of tired of hearing how great WVU's secondary is and how UT is nothing but trash. He's getting edgy.

Second thing I noticed is a hesitation when asked a question about the decision to put Trey Smith at LT after they'd said earlier that he'd play where they had a need. Putting him at LT to me sounds like they're confident at the other 4 positions. He didn't quite say that much but did say the competition had been good and that guys who weren't starting had earned playing time.

I hope I'm not deceiving myself but I'm starting to feel pretty good about this...

The comment that made my wife and I laugh out loud was something like, "You WANT to win if you're made right." !
