Yall can give it up on Caldwell being fired this year, she would not have been allowed to make the assistant coach change if the athletic department and boosters werent on board with her

Definitely would have to fire her in the next couple of days and get a coach in here the next couple of days. Looks like were riding the thing for an entire new team with hockey subbing coming their way. I can imagine what kind of players want to get into that D2, Juco, and NAIA all those girls would love to make 50 grand they would play hard and we would be about 3 and 25 when the season is over.

Yep, going to look like Arkansas’s roster this past year.

I can understand a coach being dedicated to their system, especially when it has been successful for them, albeit at a lesser level. However, a good coach also should recognize that the system doesn't work as well at a higher level college program.

If she is a good coach, she should be willing to run a different system. This level, the best players are wanting the majority of minutes on the floor. Her system doesn't expose the talent that the WNBA scouts look for simply because they just don't have the floor time.

unless CKC hits gold in the portal, we’re going to be horrible next year. If Edward’s leaves us, we are genuinely in horrible shape. She’s the only bright spot for next season to be honest. We have coop and civil left on this team. She’s going to have to field a whole team. I dont think she has the personality or knowledge to field a complete team. so sad.

She didn’t make the assistant coach change, he resigned. She went to Danny and told him that one of her assistants had undermined her during the season. Yes, during the season and remained on staff. Kim is in over her head and Danny will keep her in because she is his hire. Next year will not be any better

It would be hilarious if she's only able to field a roster of 8-9 players and is forced to adapt her system accordingly. Then, what if it is successful?
She admits that her system is hard to get right without a lot of work. When any coach recruits' players, they talk to their coaches, teammates, checkout their personalities as well as their unselfishness. So, if she has to just about get a new team from the portal, there is no way that she can say that they will be a good fit for her system. Without players coming back, the same thing will happen next year that happened this year. She has to go.

She doesn’t have a different system, this is all she has

I have been a fan for over 30 years and cannot believe what is happening to this program nor can I stand to watch this Plan A by a coach who refuses to have a Plan B or Plan C if Plan A does not work. I have watched some fantastic players in this year's tourney and ask myself how we could have missed on so many portal transfers playing for teams still in the tourney. With the reported $5 million that was wasted on players not fitting for Plan A, I have little faith in rebuilding this team with only that amount. CKC will need twice that amount and if she does not get it, I really fear what will happen this fall.. DW should bite the bullet and fire CKC and pay her the $2 million over the next 4 years and spend the $2 million he saved on her for a new coach. 2 million per year will get a lot of lookers from most of the top coaches as only approx. 5 coaches make more then that now. Let the new coach spend $5 million on a new team of 5-7 elite players and 3-4 backups. 2 million for a new proven coach would be money well spent and possibly returned in new revenue by Lady Vols being in the top 1-8 teams again. Less money spent to rebuild and chance to hit the jackpot rather then just hoping CKC can turn it around.

I think two things can be true at once.

We needed to dump a lot into the portal.

We’ve lost some of our top talent to the portal.

Caldwell probably is going to have one shot to get this right. She is going to have Edwards and a differential post is one thing she hasn’t had since she’s been here.

She knows this is her last shot so I think there’s a good chance she pulls off some heroics in the portal.

And look if not, next year is her last.

More than likely, next season is her last. Not impossible, but extremely hard to imagine she puts together a successful team with only two returning players.

DW needs to think big with his next hire. But I doubt he does. His style seems to be trying to find the up and comers. Right now, looks like he whiffed big on CKC.
