Forgot to say this..you guys will be very happy with Vincent Dallas..he looks quick and runs precise routes. could be a very exciting year for him

Vincent Dallas had the most impressive videos last season and I thought he might be effective on returns and possibly as a slot guy.

Probably because he's one of the very few left from that '07 class.

Because he's not very good at all.

The fact this poster describes him as our best DB either A) scares the crap out of me or B) makes me think this guy has 0 football knowledge. No way Evans has gotten that much better. Or maybe he's one of those players that practices really well but sucks in a game?

I think Evans is getting a bad rap. He was forced to start before he was probably ready because he was the best we had. My only issue with him was lack of physical play but he was young and a bit undersized. He was also defending behind a line that could not get consistent pressure on the qb. I would not be surprised if he got significant playing time this year and would be a contributor to the best backfield we've seen here in a long time. Just think how much better Berry would have been with the talent Dooley is assembling.

The fact that UT signed 7 DBs has to tell us something about where our current DBs are. They didn't do that just for depth reasons. Also, the coaches didn't put Evans on Julio last year b/c they enjoyed getting their butts stomped. He was UT's best option (although there might have been some injuries, I can't remember for sure). Hopefully, guys like Evans, Teague, and Gordon will get a lot better but it's possible your fear is well placed and the OP is right.

I agree. +1

In many of the criticisms, that poster looks like he was just looking for justification for what he already believed.

FWIW, if they looked "very good" in practice right now then the coaches wouldn't be pushing them hard enough.

If Art Evans is our best DB I think we might be in trouble...

So if he beats out all of these highly rated and talented guys that is a BAD thing for UT? How so? That would most likely mean he was playing pretty well.

Art is terrible and has shown that the last 2 years

I don't know what the point of practice is. These guys have no way of improving over time. They either come in a superstar or a bench warmer. Zero improvement over time.

Now having said that, I do think he sucked the last couple of years. There's a good chance he improved and we won't know until the Fall. There's also a good chance he hasn't improved and we won't know until the Fall.

I told a coach once that I though. He said that was my first mistake, just react. There are a lot of different ways Art could be improving including practice and I'm sure he is.

he obviously practices well because he's been a 2 year starter. He still plays like a giant puss on gameday.

interesting comment on Worley

Yeah. I find it extremely hard to believe that he has a leg up on Simms and Bray in anything at this point. His throwing motion may be prettier but a shotgun QB won't have better mechanics at this point than 2 dropback QBs with college experience.
