I cannot name a team right now that would not want bruce pearl as their coach.

That being said, Mike Hamilton must do everything in his power to keep him.

The fact that Mike Hamilton named the TBA after Pat Summit as soon as Bruce Pearl got there is not a good sign. Now, what Pat Summit has done is absolutely unbelievible....I have nothing against her. But the fact of the matter is that a court should never be named after a coach until he/she is has retired. This makes Bruce Pearl look like the third most respected man on campus (behind Fulmer and Summit). I know its not true, but thats just how it may appear to him right now. I'm definately all for the court being called "THE SUMMIT", but ONLY when she's done with coaching, because right now, we need to give as much respect as possible to CBP

Do you think it was a mistake by Hamilton to name the court so early (it could also hurt male recruits).

I think the last thing on recruits minds are some words on the court.

No kidding. If you don't like the court being named after the women's coach, that's fine. But using recruiting as a reason is a stretch at best.

If the playing surface was something recruits considered, Boise State would never be able to field a football team that could win a game.

How about we just pay the man and change out the portion of the floor with "The Summitt" on it when the men play.

.....Done.

If Pearl leaves for another college school I may throw myself from a building.

As for the NBA, I would like to think he will stay, and I don't see a team coming his way for a few years at least, so we should get to enjoy him for a little at least.

Could anyone really see Pearl leaving for a school like Michigan now? We have debated this but I really can't see anything like that happening anymore, at least for a while.

I'm not sure that Pearl has the right demeanor or attitude for the NBA. I have a hard time seeing the NBA primadonnas accepting his theatrics and I have a hard time seeing Pearl stomach the selfishness of NBA veterans.

Know what he'd be great at is the Olympics.

Pearl is not leaving UT unless he is fired or asked to leave.

As for naming the court - get over it. As a UT fan, alum, and supporter, I like the fact that the university acknowleged CPS achievements that way. If someone doesn't like playing on the court then go play elsewhere.

Hmmmm ... interesting concept. What will happen when the men's team is successful and packs the house for three years, makes it to Sweet Sixteen, and is otherwise as successful (relatively speaking) as the women's program? What happens when a single game in the men's NCAA tournament draws three times the interest of the entire women's team season?

After what's gone on this season, I think the last thing UT needs to be worried about is some hypothetical competition between the men's and women's basketball programs.

He shouldn't have named the court after Summitt or raised her salary to 1 million/yr to match Pearl. Women's BB has never had the attendance or popularity as men's BB. Summit is a great coach but she's in a sport that will never get the exposure that men's programs do.
