1. Bama
2. LSU
3. THE Ohio St. (Yeah whatever)
4. FSU
5. UT
6. A&M
7. UGA
8. UF
9. Auburn
10. Notre Dame
15. Kentucky
16. USCw
18. Ole Miss
19. Texas
22. USCe
24. Penn St.
25. Va. Tech
29. Arkansas
35. Mizzou
41. Miss. St.
50. Vandy (Bwwaahhaaaa)

The SEC killed it with 7 of the top 10. I can't believe UK finished higher than USCw and Texas. The ole ball coach has lost his touch coming in at 22. Great job by the coaches coming off of a losing season.

It's going to be interesting to see TAM without Johnny next year. :)

Never thought I'd see the day where Kentucky out recruits USC in football. Pretty unbelievable IMO

Haha. You sound excited.

I am. I want to see them and Mizzou serve their sentence as bottom-dwellers for at least a decade before they have any sort of success. Unfortunately, they turned in an impressive class this year. Mizzou, not so much.

I find it fun to watch fad football fail, works sometimes for a while.... but when it crash and burns it really crash and burns. Imagine TAM without Johnny this year, would have been ugly. Now they recruit the stat chasers, kind of like what Oregon was doing.

Nice info. Must have signed a pretty small class then (around 15?)

19. I'm guessing that their 4 and 5 stars are towards the lower end of their respective rating brackets, since the avg rating only seems to factor in # of stars, not overall rating.

Columbia must be a horrible place. They turned in fewer 4* recruits (2) than Vandy did (3), and after a trip to the SECCG, no less. I don't see them sustaining the level of success they had this year, and that makes me happy.

They still can't sign full classes IIRC

AFAIK, they were limited to 15 new scholarships for the past 2 signing classes (2012 and 2013). This year, I believe they can sign a full class, but are limited to 75 total scholarship players on the roster. Next year, all restrictions are lifted.

Don't quote me on that unless you want to.

The average is not the most important indicator. IMO. The most important is the total number of 4-5 * recruits. In that regard we finished 2nd.

I don't think either one is more important. Ranking classes is sort of silly, but that's the way sports fans are. Everything is a competition.

Let's put it this way: would you rather have 15 4* and 5 3*, or 14 4* and 1 3* (higher average)?

That's a question that can't be answered with a blanket statement. I would rather have whichever one filled my needs best. If I had a huge class the previous year, maybe I don't want to fill out my roster with all those 3* recruits, and I'd take the higher average and save room for the next year.

I know USC can only take up to 75 total scholarships this year, and I don't know the specifics of their situation, but they may only be able to sign 19 kids to reach that 75 cap, so this class is pretty damn good for them if that's the case.

Sports people are kind of strange... they love numbers. There is some truth to the numbers but they are taken out of context. You definitely don't need a top 5 class every year to be competitive or even win the NC, but the truth of the matter is you probably do need a top 25 ranking nearly every year to get that chance.

Alabama has been the recruiting champ for many years yet they lost a game in their own state and to Oklahoma who is usually in the 12-25 ranking in recruiting.

Who would have thought a RS freshman with about 70 college passes to his name would school Bama's #1 recruiting class like that? Nobody. There is still a reason why we play the games.

On paper Bama is the best team in the country, on the field not so much.

Assume all other things being equal. I'm just talking about these two factors.

More proof that recruiting is a hit and miss thing and it is only 1 piece of the puzzle. It is a good place to start tho. Coaching and player development are equally as important. Hopefully the players we got are "high character" guys and they turn out to be the best they can be.

I saw in a CBS Sports interview with Butch earlier that they listed us 7th. Maybe that changed, but at the time, that's what they said.
.....and I just read some posts by a troll displaying a bear (bruin) yet spouting off about Lane's latter day trojan victims.....going on about a team nobody around here cares about and casting negative aspersions about the team for which this site was created. Why don't you get on the gator or tide or game chicken sites or better yet, UCLA, and spout your nonsense?.................. or maybe you're already doing that. :spank:

Great job CBJ........Great class of 2014! :salute:
