Not understanding

The problem with most of the posts is that there are more preteen spoiled little brats than people who would like to read good informative posts. I am 81 and really don't like to have to read a lot of BS to get the real info!

I have been a vols fan since birth. Multiple alum throughout my family and even had my grandad run track for the vols in the 50s. What I read on volnation can be extremely depressing and that is what I don't understand. It's not about what recruit is going where or what coach used us to get a raise but the complete negative general attitude. At the end of the day we are still vols fans with a storied history with a plethora of National titles, sec championships, all Americans, and top notch recruiting classes.

I understand being realistic but just going out on a limb and saying no chance we get this guy or no chance we win is disgusting to me. It's hard to read this site sometimes and lately most times.

Yes 5 years of bad luck, bad hires, and terrible recruiting decisions will turn any fan of into a basket case, but I guess I'm just positive and look to the future. All we can do is move forward and I feel that is exactly what we are doing.

Just remember that teams like Alabama, Notre Dame, Michigan, etc... Have all had there down years some lasting over a decade so keep the faith. It's sad that a majority of the posters here are young and don't remember the glory days like the older guys/girls.

I was just wondering how many people feel like I do because honestly it makes me disappointed to see so many vols just give up. Anyway I had to say something GBO

Trust me when I say not everyone on here is negative about the Vols. Just some of us go on being positive through the tough times and don't pay that much attention to, much less respond to, negavols.
As for myself, and I don't think I'm alone, we just disregard pure negativism for what it is...meaningless.
GO VOLS!

The 90s & early 2000s spoiled us. We're all disappointed in the last 6-8 yrs, but the best (and about the only thing) us regular Joes can do is hang in there, keep supporting the Big Orange, sing Rocky Top with pride & know better days in the Volunteer State are ahead...and coming soon!

The OP just doesnt get it. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING has gone right for this program in 5 years! It has scarred most of us..that is what happens when you get your heart ripped out of you over and over and over again. Losing seasons, terrible hirings, inept administration, ch it recruiting classes, no player developement, missing out on the big recruits, always being the bridesmaid never the bride, not getting Gruden, being embarrassed by Gruden and the rest of the top head coaches we tried for, being number 45 on Rivals, attrition, injuries to star players, losing to FL for 8 freakin straight years, the hearbreaks at LSU and NC in 2010, seeing that POS Arian Foster stick it in our ears, losing to a terrible KY with a WR at QB, keeping that idiot Doofus Doolittle as long as we did, the burned bridges with instate talent and coaches, etc...

I can keep going on for ya if you want. Theres a snapshot of why most of us are the way we are! There isnt much to be positive about right now. But, yes, looking forward to the future!

This is exactly what I'm talking about we all know and understand the reality. BUT why not instead of looking at the past why don't we be optimistic about our future. I just don't get it wtf is wrong with people. And our recruiting ranking will change sir.

The difference now than in the past is we actually have a football coach leading the way. Not a salesman and not a lawyer but a DAMN football coach and I'm proud to have bUTch as our coach. I say give the man a chance because welll.... you dont have a choice SON

So you know what GO BIG ORANGE

edit* btw there is absolutely no right response from you because I am right

The greater percentage of us, had our minds made up that 2012 would be the season that we would finally recover. 2009 we had a winning season and made it to a bowl game and lost to Va. Tech. 2010, we had a winning season and made it to a bowl game, only to have a heartbreak loss to UNC.

We thought 2012 was the season for us. Our O-line was experienced. Our q.b. was experienced. Our receivers were returning with Da Rick, Hunter, Zack and Pig and also a JUCO receiver who might be able to contribute some. Our defense was lead by a good and experienced linebacker corps and we finally got some heavies on the D line.

Then in late 2011, the team quit on Dooley at Kentucky. A few of the staff members "jumped ship" expecially on defense.

We start 2012 with a quality win against UNC State and we are even in the top #25. Things are looking up!!!

Then we find out that our head coach and our defensive co ordinator don't know how to coach. So, we lose (5) games that we should have won and our season is scrapped.

Rather than talk about a 10 win season and a bowl game in sunny Florida, we are talking about hiring a new head coach.....

We have had our bubbles popped, after waiting for four seasons for the 2012 season to arrive and for us to start winning again.......

Once bitten = twice shy!!!

Not understanding why age matters. I'm 21 years old and I love my Tennessee Volunteers! Yeah I don't remember the glory days because i was very young at the time but that doesn't take away my love for this team. There hasn't been much to cheer about since 2000 but I don't give a damn. It's going to make it even sweeter when we return as one of the premier teams in the country. Vols, Butch! GBO! VFL!

Cbj may be the right guy but some choose to wait n see instead of drinking the kool aid just because the new coach was groomed on propaganda from the current ad....lol

It all starts this nsd. Thats the only way to start winning again.

Its not all gloom and doom. Things are looking up. We got rid of the worst coach in the history of UT football. Butch Jones knows how to win. He has proved already he will hit the recruiting trail hard. If he doesn't pull in the big fish next week its only because he didn't have enough time and I think we will have a HUGE class next year. Vol for life!

That part about your grandad running track was touching. We'll be back, and I truly believe this is the staff that gets us there.
