The story was wrong, and Hubbs issued and apology for it....

Meanwhile the status of defensive back Brent Vinson is uncertain. Vinson, who was suspended for the season opener at UCLA for academic reasons and was suspended again for the South Carolina game for five citations during a traffic stop, is trying to return to the classroom and continue his career.

Vinson lost his first appeal for re-admission and has one final appeal left. Vinson will have that appeal later this week to learn his fate.

Get the garbage out...players that are repeatedly in trouble and suspended have no respect or loyalty to the team, the university, or the fans. They don't deserve the privelege of a scholarship...they should be reserved for student athletes that do it right. It should be a reward for hard work and dedication...and being a positive influence.

Well, hoping for the best but expecting the worst at this point. Fortunately it looks like we're bringing in a few good DBs this year.

I was under the assumption Kiffin told him he was gone. Apparently this isn't the case at all right? He isn't meeting the requirements to remain enrolled at UT correct? How about Myers and Johnson, same deal, or did they get kicked off by Kiffin for other reasons?

The amount of talent that has come to the Hill and thrown out a golden opporitunity is sad. Meanwhile guys like Hardesty who seem to have all their ducks in a row but can't catch a break health-wise makes it worse.

With that said, we don't need players who can't keep their priorities where they should be.

He shouldn't have. Be it academics or off field idiocy, Vinson has a .01% chance of being in uniform against Western Kentucky.

I agree, but it's good to see a journalist that knows when they made a mistake to actually say they are sorry.

I'd really like to see Vinson stay for this next season, maybe CEO and CMK can knock some discipline into him and the other continual trouble players. I'm all for giving someone another chance, and maybe with a new environment that doesn't allow leniency with things like this, it will help him.

I certainly hope so. If MK and EO can't get it done, then this kid truely has no grip of reality.

I have no sympathy for anyone screwing around that fails to take care of their responsiblities. My middle son is in MBA program, works 32 hours a week as a programmer.Vinson sounds lazy/irresponsible, that's his self-centered, bigger than the program problem.Don't let the door hit you.

In other word he has about as much of a chance of staying as the bball team has of stopping any D1 player driving to the basket.

These kids have the opportunity that millions of people would love to have, and waste it. I've always liked Vinson's potential. I think if he had his head on straight and worked really hard he could be a very very good corner. Maybe not a shutdown corner but someone you could put on other teams top receivers. Oh well, guess we will never know.

Now, now guys. U remember what it's like to be on the hill when ur 19, 20 years old? So he sped and made a D or F in a class... That never happened to you? Brent would fit great in monte's system, i hope he can stay. However, if it is an attitude problem and he has been suspended twice, then sayonora, don't need ya on da team. It's a new Vols era.

Kiffin doesn't sound like he is bluffing. He has to back up what he says, or he has no leg to stand on coaching these kids. Here is your chance Brent, do something with it.

The 4-strikes your out policy is no longer in effect...
