I found this article on the best 10 running backs in the SEC and we were not included on the list,so....

Does everyone believe it's the O-lines fault or the talent we have in the backfield. I believe in Lane and Neal, but I'm hoping on the positive feedback on here that our O-line is doing better so that we may be again successful running the ball.

Just thought I would ask.

Why would we? LSU has 5 of the top 10, I'm sure. Then you have SC, Arkansas, and a couple of other teams with backs better than ours.

We actually have a running back coach. That why we couldn't run the ball this year. Also Tyler will be able to check into runs like Matt Simms.

We will be probably 40% run and the backs will average 5.9 ypc and about 175 rushing ypg.

We have good healthy backs and stronger line and much improved tactics this year.

I know you meant last year, but there are many other factors to why we couldn't run the ball, and a coach wasn't the biggest.

And 60% of the time, it works every time.

But seriously, if we run the ball 40% of the time, we will get killed in the SEC.

what do you mean?

we will take what the defense gives us lol

and that aint gonna be the run

never is in the SEC

and trust me we are good enough to pass 60%

what do you think the correct percentage of run pass for our O will/should be?

So, by some miracle we go from being conference bottomfeeders in rushing yardage to top six, because we've occupied that basement since 2007. 175 yards per game puts you in the top three to six schools in the conference, and I'm having a hard time figuring out the driving factor behind our huge jump. Enlighten me.

Lane and Neal will be one of the best 1 2 punches in the league......mark it.

Don't hold your breath, or worry over it for that matter.

If Lane and Neil are atleast mediocre then our passing game should easily get us where we need to go.

The driving factor is the passing game.

Am I the only one that gets this?

You said we would average 175 yards a game, and that's crazy to think about, let alone even fathom considering our performance last year. If we average 125 yards a game, that's over 40 yards a game improvement, and would probably translate into at least a 1 win gain this year. The only way we crawl out out of the SEC cellar, is to run the ball with authority, play great defense, and kick the ball worth a damn. If this team is to win 8+ games this year, those three things must happen FIRST!!

Another brilliant post, do you ever actually say anything worth a ****. I'll help you. You disagree, why?

Because your assertion about Lane and Neal is based on absolutely nothing except your homerism. Even the nicest guy on this site, UTGhosthunter, thinks you're an idiot.

It's the O-line AND the running backs. How could ANYONE expect UT to have a running back ranked in the Top 10 in the conference when our running games was amongst the very worst in the entire nation last year.
