Well I guess we should all stop watching women's college basketball this season since you said that.
Well, thanks for your great respect for my credentials as a professional journalist for 35 years, many of them spent covering women's basketball.

With that said, I certainly didn't say they shouldn't go there and do their best. You never know unless you play. Realistically, though, it's not likely they are going to Hartford and beat a UConn team that is ranked #1--especially when the rest of their schedule other than the LVs is complete trash.

If anything is really concerning it is how much we will score. Were playing really great defense right now, just need to score more and have better offensive games.
With the freshman buying in on defense now has really advanced the team. Civil has always had the effort now she is learning to stay on the floor and not be hopping to block a shot . Need Barker to come back and play stronger. Both teams really played hard noised defense last night and expect to see the same out of Ucon. Just got to make the shots when the chance comes.

maybe you should take a look at the history books on UT's battles against UCONN before you start spouting off at me. History is a great teacher. Uconn was a missed long shot from Paige B of putting a loss on Tn last year Tn certainly didn't beat their socks off like some on here think.
History is a record . The future is yet to come. I like what I see in the future which is really what counts today. You can't change the past, but you can win in the future.

With another storm headed up to the Northeast, it's highly likely that the game in CT will be canceled. There's no telling when, or if, we'll play either CT or Ole Miss. Or Mississippi State, really. Could be some sked shuffling going on. I'm just ready for a dang Lady Vols game. I don't care who we play anymore. The Lakers? Sure! It'd be good to see Dalton Kinect again! 😅

Right now, they are saying it is probably going out to sea, but way to early to call. Btw, you could always watch the uconn/xavier game tonight...will be a real barn burner, i'm sure! Just kidding...even i'm not sure I'll watch this one....so boring. Can't even describe it. I mean if they blow out a great team i find it exciting. Blowing out a crappy team just doesn't do it.

Unless I'm confused as to where this game is being played, it looks fairly safe

Confirming that it looks ok for now.

Depending on which weather app I look at, it looks like we're getting anywhere from 0-6" of snow. Earlier this week it was up to 28". Probably won't really know whether it's going to hit here significantly or not for another couple days.

More important for the LV’s is making up the conference games, if the Conn game can be played as well all the better, but SEC games first.
💯

Believe me, I want us to play ALL of the games on our schedule. I've already felt a bit cheated this season with everyone except Texas A&M having played more games than Tennessee has, so missing out on any of the ones we DO have scheduled would be extremely disappointing.

That said, the CT game definitely is more expendable if we're having to sacrifice one game in order to get all the more important SEC games in. I'm sure everyone here agrees with that.

I agree about the blow outs of Big East cupcakes. But tonight was special watching Allie Ziebell come off the bench and hit 10 3pt shots.

Not one player on that team can guard a locked in Janiah Barker, go down the list, not one of them.
Perhaps the number 1 ranked defensive player since 2002. In this list you see why Geno is a great coach. He coaches defense.

Context matters. Note the conferences those occurred against… all of them, with the exception of Sylvia.

Xavier covered +59.5. That is all that mattered to me.
Yeah, that's crazy. I texted my friend before the game and asked him if he would take the points. Needing 60 to cover is ridiculous, especially since UConn doesn't usually play Strong, Fudd, and Arnold in the fourth quarter. It's funny though, that the third option to start at center was Jana ElAlfy who last started in last years National Championship game.

Long assessment of the game but here goes. They average 67 shots per game we average 69. The big difference is their 53 percent shooting to our 42 percent. They have a 75 percent free throw percentage but haven't been getting to the line much 13 a game. We get their 18 times but miss six so were leaving three points decent average at least there every game we play. They average making 10 threes a game to our 10 but they shoot a lot less threes,

They are averaging 33 rebounds to our 42.

Not a lot of ways to win this game unless you get them off that 53 percent to something like 45 percent on the same shot total they average. That would be 60 points and if they only make 10 threes like they have been doing that comes to 70. With the 13 free throw makes they get to 83 points. If they get their average 53 percent that jumps up to 93.

So in order to win we need to go about plus ten on shots if were shooting 42 percent. That would be 77 shots eight above our average and would get us 32 field goals for 64 points. 10 need to be threes to get to 74 points. Then if we could hit 12 free throws which is our average 86 points. Doing all that while they shoot just 45 percent and only average their season shot total.

That would be a three point win, but you see there are a lot of ifs involved. Getting to plus 10 shots will be very difficult. Holding them to 45 percent extremely difficult, Just matching their threes will be difficult. Even though were getting to the line more I doubt we do in this game on the road. Turnovers and rebounds definitely have to win both to make a 10 shot deficit.

Looks to me scoring from 86 to 90 would have to be the total to have a chance. unless they play horribly below their averages. Were going to need to shoot the ball in the high forties not that mid thirty crap we do so often. I always say if we can shoot it at 45 percent overall get our 69 shot average and make 11 threes and get our 18 free throws even if we make only 12 were going to be in any game we play. We haven't reached those numbers that often this season. That is about 85 points when we do and hopefully where Kim will get the team eventually if not this season in the future.
The facts are we are a fairly good rebounding team and a least lately have not been turning it over a lot. Shooting the basketball is this teams weakness at least up to this point in the season.

I really don't expect us to collapse in this game like Louisville were much more mentally tougher now than we were then. Were as athletic as any team in the country. We just still have extreme trouble shooting a basketball.

I respect the effort. If only basketball were transitive…

Another concern is the big possibility of us having to play 4 games in a week. What will CKC do to lessen the toll on the team. Getting burnt down toward the end of conference play is a big concern. This could derail the ultimate goal which is being prepared for tournament season. Maybe see more line changes also less all out pressing ??? I'm sure they are trying to figure out how to win all the games and not tearing down our bodies. Want be a lot of time to rest between all these games and tournaments.
