Not impressed with Justin Fuente

Major Applewhite?

In his first season at Alabama, Applewhite improved the Crimson Tide offense, which averaged 22.3 points and 340.9 total yards per game under Dave Rader in 2006, to an average of 26.8 points and 372.6 total yards per game in 2007. Following a 41-17 blowout win over SEC rival Tennessee on October 20, Applewhite was named "Offensive Coordinator of the Week.

Even though he was let go, in all fairness that was Sabans first year.

Missed the Louisiana-Monroe masterpiece. :wink2: Saban's default "a-ha" nadir. I admired Applewhite as a player. Mack Brown went all Nationdom and forcefed Chris Simms before he was ready. Speaking of forcefed, I believe that is at the heart of Applewhite's coaching mediocrity. Two years of GA...a QB coaching gig...then OC status. Expected to be an answer before he even knew what the right questions were. His time in Austin was telling. They really wanted him to reinvent them and be a hero...blank tapestry to paint...failed and had an affair with a student. Definitely shouldn't go into HS coaching. :pinch:

During his one season at Rice, the team posted a 7–6 record and attended its first bowl game in over forty years.

And Tom Herman took over and they soared. :superman: We both have access to Wikipedia. :). Failed at Bama failed at Texas...OC in title only at Houston. He's not a certified failure (or success) at this point. I just feel he's a football semi-version of Clyde Drexler. Favorite son who took on job duties they weren't ready for. 's why I put him in the category of Alabama OCs that weren't good...just my (and God's) opinion. :wink2:
