If the fans can talk a coach into leaving, Nick Saban must never read twitter. Three national championships in four seasons wasn’t enough to save him from the fans’ ire after he bumbled away an opportunity to beat Auburn in the Iron Bowl last November.

On top? A Sweet 16 in one year and zero championships of any kind is going out on top? I agree that he got out while the getting was good, but I'd hardly call it going out on top. Wait until he encounters the competition in the Pac-12. They get a few more bids than what the SEC has gotten the last 2 years.

Well whatever you want to call it. I call it top because I think it was probably as good as he was going to do here. I couldn't see him lasting more than 2 more years with what was coming down the pipe

A Sweet 16 was his ceiling here. The next 2 years were going to be rebuilding projects whether he was here or not. However, it shouldn't have been that way in his fourth year if he had recruited well. He will be to blame for the lack of talent that we'll have.

Blame it on Hart for not giving him a fat buyout, but I don't blame Hart. Why give a guy a fat buyout when you probably know that you are going to have to pay it out in the next 2 years because his recruiting wasn't up to standards and we would struggle?

i know im just sayin you said itd be his rebuilding year.


i feel bad for the players, especially richardson. he played as strong as you can ask a player in the tourney for ccm. the men left behind i guess. hopefully its bball and these guys can adjust quickly. j.r. showed a lot of offense in the tourney as well so hopefully whatever style we switch to he will thrive in.

So let's get this straight you want to be able to bash the coaches, but when you are called out nationally for it you would like everyone to just forget it. Doesn't work that way in the real world.

The media has been hellbent on painting us as the evil, nefarious fanbase, and to paint CCM as this sweet little innocent child. Let them say what they want. Once again volnation has to be strong. We've weathered worse than this

With or without the 7 footer, we would be rebuilding. That shouldn't happen in a coach's fourth year.

The out-of-touch media can call out the fan base and whoever else they want. Let their cluelessness shine through. Martin not getting support from the UT admin is the reason he left, not because of some petition. That didn't help, but any coach worth his salt doesn't leave over that.

Good read because it's the truth. If CCM truly left over the petition, I don't want him coaching my Vols. I want a man who will stand with his men when things get tough and lead the charge straight back into the fans' favor.

Programs take beatings in the national media all the time. Doesn't mean squat in the long run, unless the accusations are especially damning.

None of these articles have any bearing on the future of UT basketball or even its perception among potential coaches. The only thing that matters right now is how much money Hart is willing to spend on Cuonzo's replacement.

If he's willing to write a big check, then UT basketball will get a serious upgrade. If not, well, it could be a rough few years in TBA.

Uh…. what? I don't know that I've ever bashed Martin, and my point was that the national press was taking us to task and that the UTAD needed to get ahead of the story. I have no idea what you are talking about.
