Norm Chow (UCLA)

There is a reason Chow hasn't been a head coach? :eek:k:

Are you asking why Chow hasn't been a head coach or are you saying that he hasn't been one so he shouldn't be considered?

Either way, it shouldn't matter. Look at some of the other candidates that are being considered...Kifflin was an OC at USC before he became a HC with the Raiders, he didn't exactly shine. Muschamp's never been a HC. Everyone starts out as an assistant before they become HCs.

Chow has had more experience and exposure with winning programs than a lot of coaches. I think he should be given some consideration.

So, how many other candidates have you interviewed? :)
I've talked to a coach here and there, but I'm basing what I said on numerous accounts of him having less than stellar interviews at places like Stanford, Arizona State and UCLA. It's pretty common knowledge that he just doesn't interview very well.

Which tells you exactly nothing about his football knowledge and ability to be a HC.

I would opine that one of the greatest hinderances to being a head coach is finding someone willing to make you a head coach. :)

Norm has not taken any HC offers in the past, either he didn't want to start at a smaller school or doesn't want to waste time when he's had good jobs, pros etc.. It could be his age and he felt he didn't want to spend the time in a small program or he thought he'd get a better offer down the line. Chow is a very good OC and might would be a good HC, I don't know. He is a bit old now for us to really consider UT being his first shot at it however. :eek:hmy:

Norm Chow won't come back to Tennessee - and considering he was fired from the Titans for his inability to control his players, we don't want him...Jim Harbaugh hasn't proven that he can win at DI yet (I'd at least like head coach with at least one winning season in IA)...and who is Bill Billick?

There were a few too many Norm Chow references going around today. I figured we might as well just shoot them all down at once.
