Great game by Stanford after losing by 40 to Oregon at home recently. This should put MS as a number 1 seed

I'm kind of surprised Stanford isn't at all in the conversation for #1 seed. They have the only win over Baylor and all of their losses were to quality teams. They also won the PAC-12 tournament title and avenged their bad loss to Oregon. I think the committee has to at least discuss giving them a 1 seed. The PAC-12 is the #2 RPI conference behind the ACC and I believe they deserve a one seed from out West.

At the very least I think Stanford deserves the #2 seed in Portland over Oregon instead of making Stanford potentially travel all the way to Chicago. I know geography matters, but it should matter for Stanford as well, I don't think that #2 in Portland just automatically goes to Oregon because it is their home state. They had a chance to lock up the #1 seed and be in that region for certain, not a fan of rewarding teams for losing and keeping them close to home just because.

Kim Mulkey Hang'em Up???

During last night's Championship acceptance speech she made this comment " i may not coach another game". BIG XII Championships are now hers by default and if she wins her third NCAA Championship this season she might just call it a career.

I'm getting the sadz.
I sure hope not. I love her intensity.

Not surprising we have none on this list. Lol

I agree, even if we had a better season I still don't think we would have had an AA. Our two best players are sophomores so they weren't going to beat out any of the seniors or Sabrina. Our lone true senior would not have been in the conversation even if we went 31-0.

All who received the distinction this season were very deserving and have had great careers. I will miss seeing them play at the college level!

I heard that, too, and for a brief second was shocked. But then I realized that she has seemed particularly sentimental and emotional lately, and was more than likely just saying that for emphasis on how special that moment was despite having had many, many similar moments throughout her career. Sorta like when people say, "None of us is promised even one more day, so we should enjoy each one like it's our last!"

No worries! :)

No 2nd team

Still no. Everyone on the second team is also a senior and had an excellent season/career. I can't imagine that Evina or Ren would have beat any of them out, even with a great season.

The only person on the list I'd be willing to make a case against is Anigwe. I feel she is HIGHLY overrated. She has stellar numbers, but mostly because CAL has nobody else, she is their everything. She can't hit a face up jumper to save her life, her FT percentage is poor. Their team also under achieves every season. IDK why they are always ranked so high to start with, they never do well in the PAC-12 and play a meh out of conference schedule. Not unlike UT under Holly the last few seasons.

I'll be absolutely astonished if she goes before Anriel Howard in the draft. In my mind they are quite similar in terms of athletic ability and rebounding, but Anriel can now consistently knock down the 15 foot jumper and is a quality 3 point threat. I felt like she deserved second team AA. She stepped her game up big this season and has been a real leader for MSST. Her rebounding numbers were down this season (only to 8 per game though) because she's playing alongside McCowan and doesn't have to be so focused on it. The ability to average a double double every night is there though. I don't believe Anigwe's game will translate to the next level very well, she has 0 face up game and she travels a ton but isn't called for it.

Iowa State's point guard played a great game against Baylor - the team had a very poor last quarter and the score didn't show how well IS plate. I believe the PG is a senior?

I don't understand why Anriel doesn't get any love from the All American voters. Hopefully she makes third team. But it's a tough crowd. I noticed ESPN didn't have Katie Samuelson on their teams, and she was first team last year.

I do have to say this is a wide open race. There are a lot of players having standout performances. I think Anigwe has earned a spot just based on the crazy numbers she's put up. There's a strong case for her to be there and I believe she's a Naismith top 10 finalist as well. At the start of the season I thought POY was Ionescu's to lose, but I don't see how they could possibly give it to anyone other than Megan Gustafson. She's having a n unbelievable season.

She is, and also a former Lady Vol. That is Alexa Middleton. She transferred from UT to Iowa State after her junior season.

Megan is my pick as well. She’s just dominant. Nothing flashy, but she does what’s needed. Nobody has found a way to defend her without fouling and they can’t keep her off the boards. Defensive rebounds just belong to her. Lots of one and done when you play against Iowa.

Watching former Lady Vol player Alex Simmons team play tonight Gardner Webb she has done a very good job coaching that team. They are forcing a lot of turnover straight pressure on the ball that`s the way she has them play. Big South quarter finals.

Difference between Howard and Anigwe at the next level is Kristine is a true F/C while Anriel will have to slide to the SF/W. I don’t think Howard will have trouble defending or rebounding against players in the W but I don’t think she will be able to score or shoot it how she is now. A lot of her shots at MSST are open due to sagging in on McCowan. I don’t think she’ll be able to create off the dribble or get those open three point shots. She’s not a very good ball handler or passer either and I don’t see her having much success against players like Maya Moore, Alanna Beard, or Angel Mccoughtry (players at her position) IMO.

As to Anigwe, I think she’ll struggle against players as big and fast as her. She needs to be developed but she certainly has promise. I think she’ll be better at the next level than Howard if she’s developed correctly. Her face up game isn’t as bad as you say and she can hit the occasional trail three. Unlike Howard she’s playing her natural position so adjusting to the speed of the game will be difficult but Howard will have to move to a different position so I think adjusting for her will be difficult.

Megan might be the highest IQ post player I've seen in years, made more impressive by the fact she's only 6'3. She makes her move so unbelievably quickly the defense has no time to react. It's seal, catch, pivot and shoot in what seems like one, fluid motion. And she can score with either hand equally effectively. She 100% deserves POY.

I believe Anigwe is the real deal. She will be a solid player in the pros.
Her work ethic on the boards is impressive.

We shall see, neither may be very successful at the next level.

I just don't see what everyone else sees with Anigwe. She's a true C as far as I'm concerned, no handles to be a forward. I've watched her play probably 10 times this season and she has no consistency on her jumper, teams hardly guard her from the FT line out and they rarely end up paying for it. She only shoots 50% from the floor and most of those are 2 feet from the basket.

For comparison, she and Gustafson have taken nearly the same number of shots, from similar spots on the floor, but Megan has made 101 more field goals and shoots 20% better from the field. The rest of the really good big girls like Gustafson, Hebard, McCowan, Brown, Collier etc. are all in the top 5 or 10 in the country in FG %. Anigwe is 44th.

She and Anriel shoot the same percentage from the floor, but significantly more of Anriel's shots are coming from 15' and out. Shes made 26 of 77 3 point shots on the year, 13/43 in conference play, not a great percentage, but you have to come out and respect it. Anigwe was 1-9 from 3 in conference play and hasn't made one since early February. The 3 is not part of her game.

Her own misses are often inflating her rebounding numbers too. She averages 6 O-boards a game, but almost all of them are on her own missed shots at the rim.

Hope you're right.

We need a point guard:

WBB: Hearing that Braxtin Miller (5-10 SO point guard, Dayton, OH) is putting her name in the transfer portal. She was Oklahoma State's #2 scorer in 2018-19 (14.7 PPG) and led the team in assists (3.5/game). Honorable mention All-Big 12 this season and last.

Remember she put up 29 against The Lady Vol

They need to part ways with their coach. She’s making a ton of money and she’s had bad season after bad season and high profile transfers almost every year.
Oklahoma women’s basketball coach Sherri Coale announced Tuesday that assistant coaches Pam DeCosta and Chad Thrailkill are departing the program.

Both were long-term assistant coaches on Coale’s staff.

Sherri did retain the services of her son, Colton.

Colton Coale is in his first season as an assistant coach for the Oklahoma women’s basketball program after serving as the player development specialist in 2017-18.

Coale joined OU's staff prior to the 2015-16 season, serving as the program's graduate assistant. As an assistant, Coale will work exclusively with the team’s guards and coordinate offensive gameplans.

As the son of Sooners’ head coach Sherri Coale, he has seen the building of the program from day one.

Colton has played a roll in dismantling the program since 2015. He had never coached basketball at any level or any gender before mama gave him a job.

Any else feel like UCONN probably regrets scheduling us now? They have limited out of conference games every season and need to play top teams to keep their SOS and RPI up. Which is why their OOC games are almost always top 15 teams. Will we even be top 25 by the time we play? Are we even going to be worth beating next season?

UCONN is going to be a little short handed next season and winning all of their out of conference games over ranked teams is going to be very important. Next season may be the first season they don’t run the AAC. Any in-conference loss will have to be cancelled out by big OOC wins to keep them in the conversation for top NCAA seeding. A win over us isn’t going to help them at all if we have a similar season.

When they scheduled that, I’m sure they weren’t planning on playing a team in the bottom half of the SEC. If Holly is still at the helm I’m sure it will be a resounding loss, even to what looks to be an undermanned UCONN team next season.

Depends on who Tennessee's coach is and if there are any player defections. The expected LV roster next season is absolutely good enough to beat UConn, assuming there's a competent coach at the helm. If Holly's there, then UConn will blast them off the court, and Tennessee will basically be UConn's replacement for whatever SEC creampuff they normally plan (Vandy, LSU, etc...). I also don't think they'll be losing an AAC game anytime soon. Even with the departures, they will still have a starting 5 with 2 #1, a #3 and a #4 HS rankings. They will be good, but not deep and without a consensus WBCA AA type player.
