Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2026-27

Typical asinine response. Proved my point. Completely off topic and illogical. Just say you have an issue with any player that choose Tennessee. As a poster when it comes to anything LV WBB related, you are not to be taken serious. This 9.7 ppg & 5.7 rebs gloating rhetoric of a decent player and the ridiculous gaslighting of any player prior success now wearing a Tennessee uniform was the nail in the coffin.
Go back to the kids table. Adults are speaking here.

I agree. No reason to move on from a head coach after only a few seasons.

These days you get two seasons, three tops. If you can’t get something going with the amount of money flowing through these program rn you’re out.

The days are gone of donors giving people fives years to figure it out. If you’re paying kids hundreds of thousands of dollars and coaches nearly a million; results are expected, and right soon.

Generally true, but not with CKC this year.

I don’t think you can have it both ways with Kim Caldwell. If you buy the establishment narrative of what happened last year, that she was a completely innocent damsel done wrong by the evil doers, then I think she has to get several more years., No matter what happens this year.

I’ve never believed that narrative at all, and think she should’ve been dismissed after the debacle last season. Also don’t think her system has a chance of being seriously competitive for championships ever

But if you do believe that her program was completely gutted by circumstances not of her making, then you have to give her more time to rebuild from the ashes. If you buy the tied to the train tracks narrative, it’s a miracle shes even able to field a team this year.

Unless she chooses to move on herself, realizing she’s far over her head, I think she’s here for a while. I MO unfortunately.

The only way I would differ is that I think the schedule is set up for her to succeed due to the non conference and even an 8 and 8 conference should produce 22 or more wins. If for any reason that total should fall to low due to a lot of unexpected non conference losses I could see them moving on from her otherwise yes she is back for at least the following year for sure.
I also don't believe she was the total victim for last season, but do think there may have been some players that split from the desired style of play for whatever reason I wouldn't speculate. I think some players gave up on it and did not bring their best effort. I thought the first year team gave all they had to her style of play in every game. We lost three or four big games by less than three points. That year could've been a huge start close losses killed what was still an ok first season.
I think this years team more than determines if her style can win in the SEC. A lot of 50/50 games JMO which would include Ole Miss, Oklahoma, LSU, Kentucky and UCLA at home. Kentucky, Baylor, Va Tech and Texas A&M on the road. If she could win at least six of these it would have to be considered a huge improvement for her system and prospects. Five would seem to be a must or minimum. Four or less failure. This would include for sure not losing any other game that we were favored to win.
I don't have a negative view of her style of play as a whole just parts of it. Will never like the substitution pattern, or the allowed any shot selection for all players or some of the pressing tactics that make the defense too vulnerable. I think she has a fairly talented team, but going to deep in the roster and running them in and out to often will always be huge negatives in my view.

Just wonder how they will determine how to police that 48.8 million dollar cap on payments to all players. I like the part where agents can only get 5 percent. I like the five season and only one transfer. That transfer rule means that anyone getting in the portal is stuck at their next school unless they want to sit out a season. Players being able to move season to season has what I have disliked most.

I seen somewhere that all deals $600 plus must be reported to the University they play for. Lot of the conference are supporting it.
Few want tougher NIL third party deals
With no third-party deals.
. Ones allowed under protect college sports act must be true nil sponsor deals.
None of that paying every player set money.

Yes I like that 5% on Sports AGENTs and must be certified.
Some of the movement could be representative greed.

Ted Cruz said not allowing a quarterback to sign deal with Nike.
because Nike has deal with the University would hurt player.
Those third party must true spooner ship deals.

With the Congress having authority over anti trust laws.
And bill supposedly has that protection
players won't be able to run to the courts.
if they rule that's not a true sponsorship

Big boasters won't be able to just player to come.

House of representatives might come back to after the November Election. But they will probably vote on it.
Long has Congress passes protect college sports act before January 1 . Don't matter who wins the midterms
Donald Trump promise he would sign it.

Missouri athletic director Said he thought they University would what other universities where spending on each sport.
He said he saw that in few years.

Believe if passes the Universitys will see what the other universities are spending per sport.
Might be awhile if those makes it the public. If ever.

Bill supposed to be given NCAA authority to enforce the cap .
Under the anti trust language in the bill .

Cap is supposed to increase with University Revenue
22% of would be players
Of 48 million cap dollars
Larger part of the cap is keeping University own players

NIL Go would have expanded importance

They making a big deal about Makayla Williams and Milaysia Filwiley who are both great, but the difference makers on this team may be in the post. Zakiyah Johnson is listed as a guard, but plays that 4 spot like Nina Davis did at baylor. Z Johnson has got the goods.

LSU tigers women's basketball will have all season to get the Russian girl ready as dark says she have help at 4 spot.
LSU has experience 6'3 other players.
My prediction
LSU tigers by 10 plus.
Having not look much at new Tennessee players.
But having seen LSU play under Kim M.
Don't see her and the talented guards falling to the pressure of the press.
Russian seen where she played almost a whole season amount of games against MBL teams.
Seen stat box Anna Minerva season..
Against older MBL Russian league. Players.

She will do her job provide a rim protector. Score 8- 14 points.
Think by time late February rolls around she be forced in the paint.
Few minutes I Sent of Anna Minerva she has good length arm reach. She has a college body frame.
She posted up and caught the ball with soft hands.

Russian girl 7 minutes of video her playing no annoying talking from the Creator.
video broken down in different skill sets

Oklahoma just got better. Especially on defense. LT is one of the premier defensive coaches in women's basketball.

They emphasized this is a college season only job, and LT will be back in the W next spring. Being talked about for some of the head coach openings, but selfishly I hope she's back with the sky. She happens to be Rickea Jackson's favorite coach. Has really helped RJ with her D and also they seem to have really bonded.

Okay Danny. Step up and go get a consultant to team with Caldwell…

Several college teams have done that. Ryan Howard worked with Florida last year, and someone from the W was on the UCLA staff.

Not sure that would happen here though. Understandably, I believe Kim is overly cautious about being undermined by a powerful assistant. Right now I think she’s pretty insular.

Wow, Rooster! Thank you so much for putting this in two different threads. You just can't imagine how much, as a Tennessee fan, I appreciate this commitment to keeping me informed! And I definitely didn't think it smells even a little bit of gloating!
Not intended Retro.

Nah, if anything, Rooster is a glazer, not a gloater. Goes out of his way not to offend.

In general, I think a lot of South Carolina fans have moved way past gloating over us and on to sort of feeling sorry for us. I mean how long and how thoroughly can gloating be fun?

Just joking around. No problem at all. Though I will admit that I'm ready for the worm to turn. Sigh.
No worries Retro, I looked back upon the messages and see where what I posted could have been interpreted the wrong way. Was not intended like that, I would never do that btw.
