Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2026-27

I wonder if it has anything to do with Booker? In the semifinals, she was shooting abysmally, but they still kept having her shoot with no one else getting involved. I know she’s an All American and great player, but I wonder if it left a bad taste in some of her teammates mouth.
Probably has to do with the top notch recruiting class he has coming in as well. People jockeying for playing time.

Wonder if he will try to gut Kentucky like he did Va Tech when he left?
Oh, how very sad that a head coach develops mutual trust and loyalty with his team members
so they choose to follow him to a new posting. Just imagine if KC were to do that!
How about all the people on this board, today, speculating if our new asst. coach will bring Georgia players with her? Folks seem to think that would be A GOOD THING.

Save this drivel for someone who will read it.

Don't agree with the implication that it's hypocrisy. Not hypocrisy to dislike the system and yet to plan around its reality. Hypocrisy would be claiming to support the system, yet working to undermine it. Us fans don't hav any power over this new reality of college athletics, tho...

Kentucky will be interesting to watch because both men and women arguably underperformed given how much they spent. Kenny has a really nice incoming freshmen class.
Sure does. I'm a little surprise that he stayed. Just based on the fact that he's a VA guy, VA has the Alexis Ohanian $, history and pedigree, and seems motivated to turn things around. Also, the area is beautiful. Given that the physicality component of the SEC that he is not super fond of isn't going anywhere, rants coming to press conferences near you soon. :D But, good for KY.

I’m beginning to question the concept of a “nice” freshman class in the age of the portal. Makes me feel the need to research how and when did Cori Close assemble her deep senior led team. 😉

Of her top 7 players, 4 were there since freshmen. Betts came her sophomore year. Only one, Kneepkens, was a first year player.

Thank you! So retention played a huge role in their ascension to the pinnacle.
Correct. Same for UConn, Texas, and SC this year where the heart of their team had been there a while. I think UConn had Williams as their only one. Retaining much of your roster who has experience while adding in a few key pieces seems to be ideal. At least in women’s basketball winning usually helps with roster retention, which leads to more winning. Michigan blew that out of the water on the men’s side though.
