Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

The issue is, there are a few players on this team that she added that she didn't need and that (imo) is what is causing the issues. Too many players who have played too many other places and had some sort of issues there and you bring them here and take away minutes and opportunities from players who were here.

This would be a far better team if we would've prioritize the returners and embraced playing the freshman class. There was no need for Barker, Robertson, or Jersey.
There is a strong need for barker… and they got Jersey because they missed out on bigs… they go Nya because they missed out on Dunn and Oluchi

Big Thursday coming up this week for the SEC. Texas hosting LSU is huge. UT vs UGA is important game also. Several great games. Vandy vs Ky, OM vs Bama. Conference standings will be impacted after these games.

That a really ugly financial for Florida St

If true, and you never know today with internet posts, it would be a monumental error by FSU admin that will hurt that school for years. To be fair, more context is needed. Was a lot of that spent on stadium/facilities etc..? And how was it financed if so? The number seems way too big to take at face value, there is definitely more to this story. It used to be said to believe half of what you read but in these internet days that percentage has definitely increased a bunch.

edit: I just read the link, appears stadium and facility upgrades were included. Also seems like they had a huge Legal bill associated with their challenge to the ACC this past year.

On a separate note, pertaining to the SC vs UT game Sunday. No word still on the two SC starters who have been out the past two games. I think Makeer suffered a hip injury, and TL was said to be ill, but probably the ankle acting up if my hunch is correct. That is two starting guards of the 4 available and it did not look smooth without them versus aTm.

Yes, SC has recently been starting 3 guards along with Edwards in the post area and T. Johnson at wing. Madina Okot can come back in as a starting center to replace Makeer in the lineup, thereby moving back to a more traditional lineup, but McDaniel is no substitute for TL. I have no idea why Okot has been in the dog house lately btw. She has been averaging a double double all season and the last three games has been removed from the starting lineup? Curious things.

Yes.

Also, before freaking out about the debt figure, one ought to ask about, among other things,

1) debt to equity ratio
2) interest rate(s)
3) terms
4) revenue

Remember, this is not a private entity. The full faith and credit of the alligator and sleazy politicians infested State of Florida (ultimately the long suffering taxpayers) are on the hook to pay the money back. The bankers and other lenders set the interest rate on municipal bonds knowing that the likelihood of default is an asymptote to zero.

Once all the information is in hand, we can judge whether it is prudent to borrow so much.

You are in my wheelhouse here. I am a portfolio manager for a Wall Street firm, everything you said was pretty accurate. Touche’ amigo.

SEC Tournament seeding: The top four seeds (first break) get a double-bye to the quarterfinals on Friday. Seeds five through eight (second break) get a bye to the second round on Thursday.

SEC Tournament Trivia: In the past 40 seasons, only 2012’s 13-3 Kentucky has won with three or more losses.

No worries. They'll probably just jack their ticket prices up to raise part of it, then increase the pressure on fans of all income brackets to donate even more money. Pretty soon athletics departments are going to be like televangelists, out there convincing poor people who can't afford groceries that they need to send those checks, anyway, or else they won't reach the Promised Land. 😏

This is tomorrow what you would call a loaded schedule. Love to see Bama beat Ole Miss, Kentucky beat Vanderbilt, LSU vs Texas don't care one will get their third loss.
