Agree with you. It worries me as well. Some of the players we've brought in have not lived up to the hype just yet. I am hoping we can see some improvement between then and now. I guess the one "benefit" of playing in a conference like the BE is that you have plenty of time to experiment and work out lingering issues. I was thinking the other day about how we basically play a reverse LSU schedule .... (Still going to hate Mulkey, though.Fair enough. As for my skepticism on Uconn so far this season…their post play. In the two games against decent competition I note that the two playing the center position for the Huskies have averaged a combined 5 points per game. Almost everything is done from the outside, and in the tourney that usually bites a team when the defenses get tighter and off nights shooting occur. GL this season.
Yep. That’s a good point. To be the best, you’ve got to beat the best! (Or be lurking at number two when the best gets beat…The only time I'd consider dropping an undefeated #1 rank team (and defending national champion) for a team who'd accomplished what Texas just did is if the #1 team had been winning but looking seriously bad doing it. For me, passing the eye test is hugely important. I haven't seen CT play yet this year, but I haven't heard/read any rumblings that they're looking mediocre, either. So, IMO, until someone knocks them off they're pretty much safe at #1.
Total points don't usually tell the whole story. For example, In the last 5 games, Serah Williams is averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds in 17 minutes. It's obvious that Serah is still adapting to the UConn offense.Fair enough. As for my skepticism on Uconn so far this season…their post play. Ridiculous
While it is difficult to gage how good a team is with such a weak schedule, this LSU team has been remarkable in its consistency in getting over 100 points every game, shooting well from 3 and 2pointers, but most amazingly is the sustained defense no matter what. It speaks a lot about a team when it can play intense defense for 4 quarters every game after getting leads of 50+ points in all of them. Yet, their 4th quarter defense is still smothering. This team is also so much deeper than any of Kim's other teams. This is not to suggest they will win championships or go undefeated. My point is that this team looks much more complete, plays team ball, has really good three-point shooters, and works really hard for 4 quarters no matter what. That wasn't the case for most of her teams at LSU during the early pancake schedule. Perhaps not having the focus being so much on Angel is good for team oriented ball. The big part of that ranking system is margin of victory. This is nothing new for LSU since Kim Mulkey got there. It really works for her she has the weakest non conference schedule in the country. See no way she won't be undefeated in the non conference. If she can fare well in the SEC say 13 wins then she is easily a number two seed in the tourney. A one seed if she does even better 14 or 15.
I consider it smart scheduling actually you almost certainly ensuring the first two tourney games at home. Does not seem to matter if you sos is 54 which is what their season end projection is for the season. Some say well if you play a weak schedule like that then you don't get any better. They have proved that not to be true as they are usually a very tough out in the NCAA Tourney and won a title with a similar schedule to this one couple years ago.
I take it that LSU is one of your Final Four teams? The worst of the LSU Angel teams made the E8.While it is difficult to gage how good a team is with such a weak schedule, this LSU team has been remarkable in its consistency in getting over 100 points every game, shooting well from 3 and 2pointers, but most amazingly is the sustained defense no matter what. It is certainly the best shooting team she has ever had at LSU…they are lethal shooters, like UConn.I take it that LSU is one of your Final Four teams? The worst of the LSU Angel teams made the E8.
“…ruinin’ the sport, i tell ya!. Next thing ya know, they’ll be subbing platoon style and running full court press for forty minutes! “I agree Mulkey is ruining WCBB by bullying teams not even in the top 100. Hard to watch for anyone but their fans, and it's ridiculous for NET to reward her for refusing to play anyone even close to competitive.
