Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

slightly bigger on a per annum basis. How much was a dozen eggs when SC signed their Nike deal?
It's longer. Don't be surprised if 15 years becomes the norm as these companies try to lock schools up.

I don't know if I would like to be locked up for 15 years with Adidas.
Tennessee is locked in with Adidas for 10 years and 200 million. That is certainly long enough to be locked into a deal. What will the actual value look like in 10 years looks good in the first two or three years then that 20 million a year starts to look smaller as the years pass.

$200 million or $100 million?

It's $10 million per year in combined product and cash according to the linked article. Who knows.
They don't know cause it was never revealed. As the other article says 200 million. When it first came out it was stated by a few to be 20 million total in cash and products. So I will just leave it as unknown until there is a definite source cause we have two saying completely different things.

VERY interesting article, including info on legal challenges that may let collectives back in the game. Really a turbulent time to be an AD!
The cat is out of the bag now and there is no bringing it back. Not so sure how good this is for college sports, especially in the long run. You can already see some cracks forming.

How does a team #4 ranked team, beat the #2 and #3 ranked teams in the course of a week, and not vault to #1.

…poor Longhorns. They hate them too… 🤣🤣🤣🤙🏼🧡😉
I imagine it's the grace that's usually extended to all #1 teams .... until they lose a game, they stay #1. One could rightly make an argument for Texas to be #1. Interesting that SCar only fell to #3. So the loss was good enough to jump Texas ahead, in the minds of voters, but not that good that SCar deserved to tumble far ... or maybe it's because SCar's loss was a lot better than UCLA's.

As for UCLA, maybe the voters just don't put much stock in a win over Cori Close. Kidding. Kind of. ;)

I think Michigan should be ranked higher than LSU, frankly.

Texas, SC and yes, LSU would each handily beat Michigan imo. I don't believe Michigan will even be top 3 in the B10, let alone #5 in the nation. Would you have dropped SC further than #3 after losing by 2 to Texas? Who would you put ahead of them? UCLA? UCLA was down 23 points at one time vs Texas and lost by 11. The polls got it correct. And yes, Texas should be number one right now with their superior schedule. So far Uconn's claim to fame is a 3 point win vs Michigan (we get why you want to pump that team up) and a 13 point win vs a weaker than usual Louisville squad that will struggle to stay in the top 25 all season.

I'm one of the few it seems that isn't going to hand the NC trophy to Uconn just yet. In fact I feel pretty confident they won't repeat. They almost certainly will enter the tourney undefeated with their schedule and seeded no. 1 but I'd bet against them in the tourney whenever they have to start playing top ten type teams. I've watched them plenty this year.

No, I definitely wouldn't have dropped SCar further than #3. I wasn't saying it was a bad thing. Just commenting on it. Sometimes the voters have punished teams more harshly for a close loss, is all.

I'm certainly not handing UConn any NC trophy, and neither should anyone else, especially this early in the season. AP Poll ranking doesn't really mean anything beyond opinion and vibes on a good day. And in March, forget it.

There are UConn fans who certainly believe an undefeated season (or at least undefeated until the NCAA tourney) is a lock, but I'm personally too jaded to take that stance. An injury, an illness, UConn's shooters go cold while someone on the opposing team gets hot. Who can say. Hannah Hidalgo has absolutely torched us the past few seasons. The LVs could be fired up again to pull off another upset. A 5:30pm game at USC could be tricky. Or maybe UConn wins all of these games by double digits. I don't know, but I'm too superstitious to not expect a loss.

Honestly I'm not pumping up Michigan beyond the fact that they played the #1 team close (and erased a big deficit) and that they've played a harder schedule than LSU so far. Right now LSU hasn't played any ranked teams. It's not like I expect Michigan to make the Final Four. I'd honestly hardly even tout UConn's win over them as anything special.

But let's be real, they are ranking LSU that high right now because of expectations that they will do well come conference play, and not based off of who they've beaten so far.

Edit: All that being said, I wouldn't say it would be unfair at all to make Texas #1 in the poll. They have beaten the #2 & #3 ranked teams. 🤷‍♀️

Hi Rooster! This UCONN fan totally agrees with you. No way I'd hand UCONN the trophy this year and tell everybody else to fight for second place. They just have not been that dominant...no one is watching and going "wow"! Honestly, I don't see much difference between any of the top 5 teams or so....no "wow" factor from any of them imo. Even though #1 gets the bragging rights, I'd rather go into the tournament lower than #1. Too much pressure on #1! As for their easy conference schedule, it really is a double edged sword. Some say it gives the players much needed rest throughout the year, some say they won't be battle tested once they reach March. Who knows! All i know is that i, like you, thought they were going nowhere last year. I mean they were just unimpressive until Tennessee woke them up! That being said, it probably won't be until mid February when we see teams starting to really separate from the pack. Good luck to all you guys...vols, gamecocks, longhorns...just looking forward to fantastic games and a fantastic tournament.

Fair enough. As for my skepticism on Uconn so far this season…their post play. In the two games against decent competition I note that the two playing the center position for the Huskies have averaged a combined 5 points per game. Almost everything is done from the outside, and in the tourney that usually bites a team when the defenses get tighter and off nights shooting occur. GL this season.

Can’t disagree with any of that Puppeteer. GL also.
