Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2025-26

We get longer games now we can challenge football for how long a game lasts.
And our games are already so long due to the frequent whistles for fouls and turnovers. As frequently pointed out last year, breaks in the game help an opponent we’re trying to wear down. A long, well placed review late in a close game could let them catch their breath and regroup

I tell you what Tennessee beating UCONN in the same season where the LVs were still building chemistry as a team/program while the Connies beat the brakes off South Carolina twice bodes well for the Lady Vols in year 2 of the Coach Caldwell era in the SEC.
We’ve heard the long drawn out takes about the SEC getting better. Okay. We’ll see.
For all the loud and proud critics that pushed the SEC record through the mud it’s going to be a wild ride following the Sweet 16 season, #1 transfer portal class, and #1/#2 high school class. I bet Coach Caldwell will have a big chip on her shoulder as if the LVs are picked to finish in last place. On the court, I’m putting my money on Tennessee.
In recruiting, I’m putting my money on Coach Caldwell.
GBO🍊!

Won't matter as Geno will dismantle the cocks once again in humiliating fashion.

It's hard to be dismantled by a team that's not on your schedule.

With the loss of Buecker's leadership, many intangibles, and her 20 points per game UConn may well return to earth.

SC should be improved with the addition of the nation's leading scorer in Latson and a proven post player in 6'6" Okot.

Dawn's most successful teams have always included a dominant big something that was missing in 2024-25.

They won't be better unless Staley finds a real offense besides freelance potpourri. She's won by bringing in talent....not by coaching them up. With their talent, no one should get close but a lot of them do and the world saw what a talented and fundamentally strong team will do to her teams. That is not a one-off occurrence. I look forward to a more level conference and one that has multiple teams competing for championships.

I think this is something y’all tell yourselves to feel better about what she was done…. Because it’s no way.

Yeah, getting to the championship game was a failure. Losing to Uconn who had three number 1 recruits in the lineup was a disgrace. Winning 3 NC's in the modern era is/was a fluke. Their 2024-25 in-conference offense was ranked 2, behind Oklahoma by a point, pitiful. Most players in the WNBA, yet a failure to develop. SEC all time win streak records pure luck. Most wins in WBB past ten years in spite of horrible coaching. Top 5 defense in WBB for a decade, who cares about defense right?

We could talk about several teams from many years ago that had the most talent annually but didn't always win it all, and we wouldn't need to bring in insults to the HC's as the reason why. But that wouldn't fit your agenda.

Keep doing you keyboard warrior. This forum is usually very civil to guests, with the few exceptions from people that go out of their way to play the school yard bully. Internet tough guys.

Stats - Women's Basketball - Southeastern Conference

319-35 overall
147-13 SEC

It's how you lost to UConn that matters. It exposed your team as having a poor offense primarily fueled by one-on-one play. I didn't make it up. Oh, and your not so subtle jab at Pat didn't go unnoticed. Classy chicken shade.

spin away ricky. That offense was good enough to win the SEC and get to the National finals and was the second leading scoring team in conference play. You fail to mention the other side of the ball, as if it doesn't matter, but of course defense matters. They found a way to beat Vandy twice by an average of 25 points/game not to mention beating Texas 3 out of 4 games. Take all the pot shots you want at the SC coach and program, that's what you do best. Peace and out here.

Release of SC's 25-26 SEC schedule shows a home and home with Bama. How intriguing to watch our ladies play Texas in Vegas during Thanksgiving week.
SC vs LSU and Fulwiley in Baton Rouge should be a top billed game. After many years of consecutive losses to the gamecocks could this be the year LSU finally gets a win?

Looking forward to the LV's visit to Columbia.

I waved to Dawn recently as she pushed Champ in his stroller up Gervais Street.
