Totally agree with one and three may have put the USC Trojan coach in there as well.
What do u think about Gottlieb taking Cal to a final four?Gottlieb; I agree she’s overrated.
Close is tops though. I mean your team has been AP #1 for most of the season, you get the overall number #1 seed, and you have a talented big. I can understand losing a close game in the FF but to be absolutely blown out … did you even game plan??

Close is grossly overrated. She had the great roster ever assembled and couldn’t make them look good.
I mean, Coach Q once took freaking Syracuse to a national championship game …. In the same year Washington and Oregon St made the FF. IMHO if the stars align, it can basically happen to almost anyone on a hot streak and at least a few decent players and a little luck. What do u think about Gottlieb taking Cal to a final four?
I don’t like her as a coach, but you can’t take that away from her, also 2 elite 8’s are good. Not sure how’s she’s overrated, because I don’t hear anyone calling her a great coach. Would u give her credit if she won with 3 number 1 overall recruits?I mean, Coach Q once took freaking Syracuse to a national championship game …. The rest of her tenure at Cal was making it to the 2nd round and getting beat. Looking at her tourney record, she actually regressed over time there.
For now I’ll call her overrated. If JuJu doesn’t play next year and they make the E8 or FF I’ll be impressed.
You realize that a calm presentation of factual details such as yours will cause severe dyspepsia and heartburn (and perhaps even flatulence) among those whose best are throwaway cheap shots.Greatest roster ever assembled??? Which UCLA players would have started for UConn this past season? Betts over El Alfy and possibly Rice over Chen.
Over the entirety of the season the only Bruin who was consistently elite is Betts. Londynn Jones is a liability when she is not hitting 3s. Dugalic is a decent player but cannot put up numbers against top competition. Jaquez is a gamer who plays very hard but her contributions are wildly inconsistent from game to game. Rice is probably the closest to being elite (talentwise) among Betts' supporting cast but again, she doesn't consistently produce in important games. As far as the bench, Barker and Gardiner are real talents but their contributions were underwhelming vis-a-vis expectations. So, hardly the greatest roster ever assembled.
UCLA's roster proved inferior to the current UConn team much less the Stewart led UConn squads. Take a look at the 2015-16 Huskies team for example:

Does she win once and then can never repeat that same level of success? I would give her her flowers for winning it once, like I would give any coach no matter what, but I look for sustained success (conference and national level). There are good coaches and then there are great coaches. To me she is good, not great. At least not yet.I don’t like her as a coach, but you can’t take that away from her, also 2 elite 8’s are good. I follow a lot of USC because ofJuju and Kiki, and everyone calls her a horrible coach in those circles. Next year will tell a lot about her coaching ability.Does she win once and then can never repeat that same level of success? I feel like I hear a lot on social media about how great she is, so maybe the algorithm is distorting my viewpoint somewhat.
Oh the smugness.I mean, Coach Q once took freaking Syracuse to a national championship game …. In the same year Washington and Oregon St made the FF. IMHO if the stars align, it can basically happen to almost anyone on a hot streak and at least a few decent players and a little luck.

How is it being smug? There’s plenty of coaches I like that I think are good coaches but I’m not exactly about to put them in the hall of fame. And there are coaches I dislike (like McGraw or Mulkey) who I can admit were/are pretty great based on sustained high level success. Dawn and Pat would be coaches I would also consider great coaches, too, for that matter (though I don’t dislike them).Oh the smugness.
Who should start? Latson and Fulwiley. Imagine having to guard that backcourt? It will be SC's highest scoring combo of guards. Tessa Johnson can be interchanged with Fulwilwy vs certain matchups, but Tessa J is going to be playing the 3 spot mostly, and hopefully starting there as well..Raven, Fulwiley, Tessa, Maddy and Latson. Of these guards who should start and who should come off the bench?

I was thinking the same thing. Her starting position just went out the window. I wish her well. I think she's making a msitake....but we all make mistakes.Won't be Fulwiley as I just heard she's in the transfer portal. Don't know the details but I suspect it could be related to Latson taking a guard spot.
She isnt making a mistake. She has two seasons left to be a starter in college. She has averaged 18 minutes per game her first two seasons, less than half the game. She is good enough to start on 95%+ of P4 teams right now. She was not going to start for SC in her Junior season, that became apparent when Latson signed on. No player of her talent level wants to wait until they are a Senior to start.I was thinking the same thing. Her starting position just went out the window. I wish her well. Correct, leaving is her best option ....She isnt making a mistake. She has two seasons left to be a starter in college.
