Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2023-24

Yes. Driving un-distracted is optimal.
I don’t get distracted talking, only if I try to proofread. Talking into phone using Bluetooth is no different than talking to the passenger sitting next to me. However, I can’t tell you how many cuss words I have sent in texts or emails, and I never actually cuss. Whoever had this work phone before me makes the phone think I’m cussing all the time.

Juju is getting her points. The team is still a work in progress.
I believe it’s incredible how often we see teams that are built during the off-season across all sports in free agency from professional teams and now the portal in college athletics.
The expectations of this so called super teams are set so high that no matter the final outcome 98% of time the teams can’t reach them.
Another point, I mentioned earlier the full court press defense. Saint Louis coach talked about it and how it affected her team.
USC is going hard pressing but not really forcing the turnovers or creating steals.
I don’t think people realize how difficult it is which makes it impressive when you see teams do it effectively.
Coach Kim has Tennessee press looking better than USC.
You need talent and athletes to do it and right now Tennessee is the best I’ve seen running the full-court press this year.

I didn’t get a chance to watch the ND/TCU game. Was TCU just lights out or was ND off their game?

ND played decent and probably would’ve won the game by a solid margin until TCU played lights out in the 4th qtr.
They were down 11 points to start the 4th qtr. Cut it down to 3 points in 2 mins into the 4th qtr.
In my opinion they stunned ND. Came out and made just about every shot they took.
Seemed like all 5 players on the court for TCU couldn’t miss in the 4th qtr.

Interesting UCLA vs Tennessee Martin game. Ucla wins by 60 shot 53 percent held Martin to 24 percent. Shot differential 16 for UCLA. We won our game vs them by 40 only shot 39 percent while they shot 44 percent. Shot differential 39. If we shoot 53 percent in our game we score 115 and hold them to 24 percent they score 34.
My point being we have a lot of room for improvement both offensively and defensively. The stat that really stands out is our 33 offensive rebounds to Martins 4 while Ucla only wins that stat by 6.

I know none of this means much except you can see in the stats our ceiling is high to improve as a team. If we can get our shooting up to 47 percent for the game and 35 from the three we'll be a hard team to beat anytime we play. Our shooting has been weak thus far. Our rebounding and forcing turnovers has been outstanding. Defense in the half court not very good.

South Carolina 23
Purdue 12
Decent start for South Carolina. SC is trying to play fast to create instant offense and control the tempo( i.e. Coach Kim).
SC outside shooting has been poor in the 1st qtr. They have played 10 players.
Purdue is playing hard but does not have the depth to match SC.

Need to see them do it against actual competition.
They will, most of the team is learning a new system with the transfers and incoming freshman class. Gottlieb finally made an effort to get Kiki the ball, but she still doesn’t get her the ball in her best spots which is frustrating for me to watch.

You can watch the game on Tubi

Thanks. I didn't even realize there was so much content on Tubi or Live TV. I have tubi, but never watch this streaming service....

South Carolina scores 30 pts in the 2nd qtr and held Purdue to 6 pts.
The 2nd qtr was much better in them forcing turnovers and getting out in transition.
53 South Carolina
18 Purdue

A lot of 1-1 for South Carolina though, not passing the ball very well. Just a bunch of athletic players doing their own thing. Purdue just can’t compete with this much athelticism.

That hurt South Carolina against UCLA. They couldn’t out athletic them. McDaniel was the only one who passed the ball reasonably well.
