take that to gametime thread.
you're interrupting a serious debate
with your changing the subject post
Not at all. Just posting musical commentary on an obnoxious, self absorbed wannabe, seeking to impose the value of their beliefs on other posters. I considered it optional, but that’s just me, mud.

Do you ever call other poster’s opinions lazy, stupid or silly? I guess to some degree I am guilty myself, judging wise. I generally manage yo scroll on by, but I do feel it needs to be addressed occasionally .

Like I said you don’t comprehend facts. Just post the same lazy & simple beliefs. These aren’t even opinions you keep postings just more of what you want to happen. Kaylene Smikle has led Maryland in scoring and made it look easy. And she is far from having to do it by herself 7 players on this roster averaged double figures. CKC system helped Talaysia Cooper go from averaging 2.9 ppg to 16ppg. Took Spearman from 6 ppg to 11ppg back to back seasons. Last year’s team got beat by Texas A&M and Fatmata Janneh posted a 17 point 12 rebound double double in Knoxville. Saying last season team would beat this one shows you got some sort of issue and that’s a personal problem.
Jada Eads had a better game against NC State at Seton Hall than any guard on Tennessee’s team last season.
Are you challenged in your mind or something because to go to this extent isn’t only meaningless but getting kind of sad at the same time. Seems personal at this point because as the coach and even the local media comes out with videos and interview reports that the team is indeed further along than last seasons team you seem pressed right now. There has been multiple former LV players that watched practice and gave credit to the team for the work being put in and how hard they’re working as a team. The common theme is they look strong on the court. Nobody has a reason to make any of these things up. It’s simply what is happening.
Meanwhile, I’m done with any dialogue with you. I’m feeling good and checking off the list everything I said in May-July that is coming to fruition.
Keep living in your world kid. You don’t have to worry about what I post moving forward but I’m willing to bet come November through February you won’t be around here posting much.
Look Knox. Just because you changed your profile name doesn't mean you changed your B.S.. Next thing you know, you will have us beating South Carolina, LSU, Texas, and telling us we beat UConn once upon a time so we will definitely beat them again this year because our team works hard and we are definitely going to be top 3 in the SEC because everything Lady Vols is elite. Same delusional rhetoric as last year. Must be a shame that you had to change your profile name so that you can see other people's posts on this forum because so many had blocked you. Get a grip.

My personal opinion. What are you talking about?
I’m talking about better than .500 in conference. I think the LV’s will do that this season. But challenge for the conference championship? I don’t see it this season and as I said above, it’s not in the cards with this system imo. I hope I am wrong about that btw, I like Caldwell and think it would be great for the game if something new like her style works at the D1 level. Before you reply that it has already worked and point to the first season again which included the Uconn win and a SS appearance, remember that my original point was that I didn’t believe the system would get to championship caliber level, conference and NCAA included. That system has yet to get above the .500 mark in conference play, which I use here as a barometer but by no means a definitive answer. That’s why I termed it a personal opinion.

Rooster, yes that is true but you are missing key elements. In year 1, CKC was pregnant and birthed her 1st child during the season in SEC play. Last season, she attempted to manage an undisciplined team that displayed a tendency to meltdown emotionally during off-season/in-season practices and games in addition to the dismissal of one of the key players. She faced that adversity and managed the highs and lows.
The place you’re wrong and others are wrong is the roster this season is far more talented overall, has better leadership, and depth than the first two teams. The sportswriters and fans that think last season roster had more talent than the current roster are like people that place sports bets based on looking back at the HS rankings from 1,2,3 years ago without doing any research TODAY of their own. Recruiting services are dead. Theres a story out right now about one of the major services pushing a $400 fee for player evaluations! Guess what it’s not just one wait until what else comes out that’s happening behind the scenes with the HS player ranking system.
It’s a reason Coach Caldwell is smiling and locked in again. She had Samara Spencer in year 1. She had Jewel Spear. Now she has 10 players with that basketball pedigree and leadership ability. The deciding factor and what puts them over the top compared to last year’s team and why this current roster would beat them by 20 points is talent wise they’ve accomplished even more before coming to Tennessee. Last season leading scorer came here from SC averaging 2.9ppg. Kaylene Smikle has averaged 16ppg and two seasons of 17.9 ppg before ever putting on a UT uniform. Naomi White led all freshman last season averaging 20ppg.
The system won’t hold them back this season because their basketball IQ is very high. There’s probably 4 or 5 players in the SEC combined that have had the same level of on the floor impact as Kaylene Smikle and Aaliyah Moore in BIG games.

Coop was a true freshman at SC on a veteran squad and only saw a few minutes per game, hence the 2.9 ppg. Her jump in points at UT was mostly attributable to being a starter and getting the increased minutes, and that jump would have happened whatever system she was in. Your comments are slanted to make it seem her jump in PPG were due to her moving from the SC system to the UT system. She will likely have similar numbers at OM this year compared to her past few seasons.

Kellie Harper had her in practice so she was already
integrated With Tennessee players Kellie Harper brought to Tennessee.
Kellie Harper was excited about getting coach Coop next season. Coop second year as lady Vols.
Most of Kim Caldwell first team as playing as a team
Was Built under Kellie Harper foundation

Kim Caldwell give birth January 20, 2025
Kim Caldwell probably didn't involve herself in recruiting
And making sure she got players that fit with her system
if she wasn't pregnant she would have been more involved.
Got give YouNG coach Some leeway for last year.

Expecting Coop two rebound at Old Miss under Yollet McPhee-McCuin known as coach YO
more traditionally system.

Kim has got her players now.
lets us see if she can improve on last YEAR'S NCAA first round exit. And Kim and her players not seeing eye to eye.
KIM PROBABLY WAS HURT IN RECRUITING BY HOW LAST YEAR TEAMS SEASON FINISHED.
SEE IF KIM CAN HAVE A BETTER SEASON
AND BE MORE ATTRACTIVE TO RECRUITS..

Coach Caldwell signed players that transferred from other SEC, Big 10, Big East, and ACC schools. It’s an overstatement that is inaccurate to assume she was hurt by last season. Just as it’s inaccurate to perceive that all these players with better college resumes than many who left and have played at Texas, Maryland, Texas A&M, Georgia, Auburn etc were under recruited or undervalued by other Power 4 schools. They were recruited during the spring portal window by Vanderbilt, Oklahoma, LSU, Washington, Ole Miss, NC State among others. CKC simply got the players she wanted for her system and we’ll see how it plays out.

How do you know it would’ve happened in whatever system? Ole Miss has a team surrounding her that is made up of mostly mid-major transfers so of course the statistics will be there on paper.
My position is that CKC system helped even more accomplished players in their first season at Tennessee on both ends of the court such as Samara Spencer who started four combined seasons in the SEC. Sam started at Arkansas and Tennessee but while in Knoxville she took her in-game impact to the next level in conference on and off the court in year 1 advancing to the S16. CKC system led to an improvement in Lazaria Spearman numbers after two years of averaging 6 ppg at Miami. The minutes improved yes but not by a substantial margin. Yet the in-game productivity increased and Spearman was selected in the WNBA draft.
I’m not sure that would’ve happened if she had stayed at Miami. Same could be true for Cooper who went from averaging 2.9ppg to 16ppg at Tennessee.
So again, with the players coming in if they buy into the system as many have shown the commitment & focus to do so the results should return this season for the system on a much more consistent scale. This team can and will compete with any team in the SEC on this current trajectory.

didn't say she didn't get good players.
but does she have a CP type play tenn 2008-2009
Built national championship around.
This year success could help get player like CP
Probably the best player in the country does not guarantee a championship
but it Helps.

This is the season all her Kim Caldwell players.
So she would get a fresh look from Tennessee fans.

No team in college has a CP type of player so that’s not relevant. There is not a single one. Times have changed. The sport has changed.

Yeah, I’m sure CT fans wish for more exciting games in January and February, but it certainly doesn’t appear to ever badly hurt your team’s performance in the NCAAT. In fact, I suspect your players have way more fuel left in the tank for post-season play than, for example, SEC teams do after league play. I know for certain Tennessee has been completely exhausted the past two seasons, and very well may be again this season.
Physically, they may be mostly rested, but mentally they may not be as prepared.

Me personally I think this team is more talented only because they are a more experienced team than last years team. Plus this team seems more mature, has a chip on their shoulder (including the coaches), seems more focused and not having to deal with off the court issues. I’m excited to see how things go and see if this team can get some unexpected wins.

Kellie came in with no post player and no point guard a year ago which would indicate a reason to be beaten like that, but whats crazy is that we lost by 43 the game before to South Carolina and 2 games before that by over 30 to Uconn with a full roster. What's even worse about that, is that last years team would probably crush this years team simalar to the way they beat Missouri. Smikle cannot carry this team in the SEC and the rest of the SEC recruits have shown what their ability to score is against SEC level talent. Then to think that Naomi white will come in and score like she did at Northern Arizona is almost as crazy as most of your posts. This is stuff you cant make up.
So you believe this year‘s team will be significantly worse record wise overall and in the SEC than last year‘s team, is that correct?

Well it’s clearly statistics from college at Power 4 schools and game film online that supports your perspective on the team comparison. Not only the experience factor but the production. Nothing else justifies otherwise.

I don't think it will be better. Last year we knew were in trouble when we struggled with Tennessee Martin and Belmont and could not pull away from middle and bottom of the pack teams in the SEC. We are a 7-10 ranked team in the SEC this year unless get a lot out of Smikle and the former SEC players and that is being generous. Everyone talks about offense, but where does the defense and rebounding come from when competing againt 6-3 to 6-5 athletic and experienced SEC posts? The high volume and quick shooting that we saw in year one is dependent on having rebounders who can compete on the offensive boards consistently. Is Fats and Moore gonna give us enough? How do our guards compete against more athletic 5-star guards that are faster and stronger that are sprinkled throughout the SEC on either side of the ball? If Kim thinks she is going to run any team from the SEC out of the gym because of pace, that is just not going to happen. We will see how it goes, but this team needs to win 20+ games this year bring confidence back for recruiting.

I’m not sure why anyone is asking this poster that question. They simply won’t ever speak anything that doesn’t discredit Tennessee. The same poster in another thread just said a 6’0 player at another school was “extremely talented” averaging 9.7 ppg & 5.7 rebs but nitpicks every single aspect of Tennessee players. Tennessee has 6 players that have averaged better statistics in the SEC, ACC, Big East, and Big 10. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if that poster isn’t here posing as a LV fan but is affiliated with another program.
