....Saban has schooled them well on the art of playing dirty. The Titans are expected to take Chance Warmack, one of their guards, with their No.10 pick in the 1st Rd. With that in mind, I was watching this interview with him at NFL.com. Watch from about the halfway point, and you would be hard pressed to see a single play, where their OL isn't either grabbing and holding a massive handful of jersey or tackling from behind our DL who split their gap and had their RB dead to rights in the backfield (5:07 mark).

Alabama G Chance Warmack Joins 'NFL AM'

The first pass play you see (4:55 mark in the video), BOTH OT's grab our DE's jerseys and hold on them up in the air, hanging on for dear life. That tells me, emphatically, that they are coached to do that. Grab jersey and hold on.

Not saying Bama doesn't have a ton of talent and isn't coached well, but dang, if you get away with playing dirty on every play, it's not hard to neutralize a good DL.

Um... should I be the one to break it to him that all Offensive Lineman hold?

Ok so I watched what your talking about, I'm pretty sure offensive linemen are allowed to use their hands as long as they keep them to the inside of a defenders body, but if they get to the outside of the defender's body, it is a penalty.

Every player is taught to do such things without being caught. You have 22 players on field and what 5 refs?

That's exactly what you're taught. Bama is dirty in other areas tho.

I didn't say anything about getting hands on the DE's. I'm talking about grabbing hold of the jersey and clinging to it. In that one play, you can clearly see the jerseys being pulled well away from the shoulder pads...even at head level. Pretty sure that's a penalty any day of the week and twice on Sundays.

Bad news for the Titans, I guess.

Anyone watching the SEC Championship game, and paying attention, saw several holds by Bama's o-line on many, many key plays. Watch a replay on On Demand and you'll see that it's by design. And they get away with it. There were no holding calls on Bama the entire game! Can't tell you why.

There was only one holding call on UGA, and they held a lot more than once.

As long as the Olinemen is grabbing inside the shoulders, it's not going to get called.

Perhaps, it is after all, the nature of the beast. But if you would have said your front seven were simply and consistently getting blown off the line of scrimmage, it would have been much more the reason. And It ain't pinball, wrap up.

This. The only time they call it is if your hands move outside. Any good coach will teach his players that.

bama's Oline has had I think 1 holding call against them the last 4 years or some crazy stat like that...they're paying someone to have it not called against them

We had two holding calls in the national championship game. If you're going to make something up, at least do the simplest amount of research.
