No Respect Left in UT-Alabama Rivalry

Thats so true. We stayed until the very end and I have never in my life been so disgusted by people in my life. I've been to many games in my life, wins and losses, and I have never seen so little class in so called "Bama fans". They showed absolutely no class whatsoever. I celebrate when our Vols win but I choose to show some class and some respect for the opposition. I'm not being a sore loser, we got beat and I can live with that. Our time will return soon, GO VOLS!!!

It's true. Alabama fans are the rudest, most obnoxious, and downright classless fans of any school I've ever encountered. Usually these sorts of statements about fanbases amount to hyperbole or gross generalizations, but not when it comes to Alabama. I respect all the teams we play, but they're the only ones that inspire in me true feelings of "hate."

As much as I hate Florida, their fans that come to Neyland are pretty decent. The Alabama fans that come are just nasty, and I was surrounded by them last night. Shame on the season ticket holders who sold/gave their tickets to Alabama fans.

I think that's been the state of the rivalry for years. Nothing new this year in the mutual hatefest.

I completely agree... I understand if you're going to be obnoxious, that's just being a rude Alabama fan. But to cheer "Bama Bama Bama!" when your dirty hit took down one of our guys, and he is still on the ground... that's just distasteful. One of the guys sitting behind us was being obnoxious during one of the salutes to the military portion as well, but I'd say that was isolated idiocy.

They did the same thing in 06 when Coker went down.

It's actually "ALA-BAMA" that they cheer...and yes, they have done it many times during sequences when a player is down, including the past 2 trips to Knoxville.

As I mentioned before, our students started chanting F*** You Bama 2 years ago. We could both do better.

Cut the sanctimonious crap.

I can think of at least 6 variations of "I hat Bama" threads on this board within the last week. Besides, who on this board has not sung "We don't give a damn about the Whole state of Alabama"?

I simply do not believe that majority of any fan base wants to see another player hurt. If anything, they were cheering their team in the red zone.

Most of you are just a bunch of sore losers. Get over it please......

We won. I hope you didn't expect the majority of Bama fans to be polite after all the crap we have endured from UT over the past decade. It's one thing to be violent and do physical things, but to just be saying stuff??

Pot me Kettle...

No, we simply find your fellow fans mostly intolerable (and it's well understood that this feeling is generally mutual). There is no doubt that Alabama is one of the best teams in the country this season, and they won fair and square last night. I don't think Alabama and Tennessee fans will ever "get over" hating each other for the most part, though.

You are right Alabama destroyed us on the field last night. I have plenty of friends who are Bama fans so I am not talking about everyone. What I had a problem with was the 9yr. old kid that cheered HEY VOLS WE JUST BEAT THE F@@K OUT OF YOU. His dad then gave him a high five and said thats my boy. I mean thats going overboard. I understand that was just one person though.

Everybody I talked to leading up to the game and in during were reminiscent of the quality of this rivalry. I don't open "I hate Bama" or "I hate Tennessee" threads so I can't speak of what is said there but this thread is the first that I have heard about these altercations. I didn't hear ANY fans cheering when a TN player was down. Nobody. And for this journalist to say that was a questionable block? It was as questionable as kicking a field goal, both are by the rules. Ridiculous statement and was only said to try and cast a shadow around the win. Pretty sad article and very exaggerated. I'm glad he stopped before writing about gang violence and pimpin' ho's.

I have a problem with that too, he should learn the words to rammer jammer. It's "Hell" not "F@@K".

Obnoxious fans are not limited to the state of Alabama. Every team(including our own) have their share. I recall being at a Tennessee vs Ole Miss game years ago in Memphis. I was stuck right in the middle of a sea of Rebel fans. I was very impressed to hear a little boy who couldn't have been more than ten years old sitting behind me say, "Damn daddy, Tennessee sure has a bunch of big "N-word's" on their team." People like this can be found amongst all team's supporters. Class is not simply a god-given thing based on who you pull for.
