I believe Pruitt will go into the first game without publicly naming the QB starter. We are just over a week out and there’s a lot of benefit.

1) Keep JG and Keller Chryst both competing and happy. If they name a starter, the other could check out.

2) Our team probably has a good idea, so it’s best to keep it a mystery publicly for WV as they prepare.

Thoughts?

the team and coaches know who the starter is. believe they've already started game prep for wvu, iirc. so you'd like to believe they've already done gameplanning etc...so now they're installing. if there is an announcment on the starter, it won't be until next week sometime.

Media will likely see one QB take most of the reps and we will iner from them. Maybe we will know by Wednesday, maybe not till 9/1?

Not so sure that the team even knows which QB will start, I have a feeling that both QB's will play next Saturday and Pruitt will let their performance dictate who plays going foreward

My opinion is we're a week away, the staff knows what they're doing internally. As long as that's the case that's fine.. more than cool leaving WVU in the dark gameplan wise.

If noon friday comes and we still have no idea what we're doing internally then we panic!

Probably true unless whoever starts the first series looks really good esrly. And I don't necessarily mean just throwing the ball; if the offense is moving the ball, controlling tempo, and most importantly, finding the endzone, Pruitt and Helton may stay with that guy until (if/when) the offense stalls for a couple of possessions or the starter makes a mistake or two, INT, unnecessary sack, etc.

There's no upside that I can see naming anyone a starter at any position this week going into the game. Pruitt seems to be saying that in his most recent presser from yesterday. Evaluating not only how they practice but how they prepare and play in an actual game seems to be the direction he is leaning in before naming people to actual "starting positions" IMO. It would surprise me not to see starters changed rather often until he gets the consistency in performance with which he has made public frequently.

If he doesn't announce at his Monday presser, then we won't know officially till game time. That said, if someone is getting the vast majority of the snaps with the 1s, next week, that will inevitably leak out. Just about everyone in the know says JG.

If you're practicing next to the starting qb and you think you are him..........you aren't paying attention. Coaches don't decide who starts. The players do.

Well time to buckle up for a long, long, sad season.

Panic?? Don't think so. Just means we cover the spread by 21.

I'm still convinced its Chryst for WV. I think for at least game one the game plan will be ball control, dink and dunk, lots of runs, short safe throws to move the sticks, occasional shot down field and lots of TE looks and i think hes better suited for that currently. I think by Florida it will be Gman though. Gives him more time to get in game reps and i think we will need his bigger arm to challenge the more talented and physical SEC secondary. Just my two cents.
