No one is jumping at the opportunity.

Call me negavol if you want but sadly it's the truth.

Supposedly Wilcox let Dooley know his intentions early, or at the very least his intentions were known and therefore when the Washington job became available, surely Dooley knew it was likely Wilcox was interested. How this isn't done already is mind boggling to me.

One hope I’m holding on regarding Shannon... There hasn't been a report denying his or UT's interest in him... Considering how much hype there has been over the possibility of Shannon for DC. You would think if he wasn't in or had been in talks with UT, he or someone within his "camp" would deny the "rumors".

I hope Dooley can get it done with Shannon... It would really help with getting this thing back on track.

It's sad but true. There appears to be zero interest with the popular choices.

Or maybe there is no interest because the position is already been filled...

Not telling local media is a good move considering our previous track record of leaking information.

It will happen by wednesday. Sounds like DD has also been interviewing for a new OL coach as well. Hiring a new DC and three new position coaches is a pretty big deal.

i don't know that this means there is no interest - this just means that the people that some in the media have reported to have interest don't seem to have interest - it does not mean there is not interest among competent candidates the media may not have thought about

DC at Tennessee is still a good job but coaches are worried about their future and I really can't blame them. Most people think this is the make or break year for Coach Dooley. I for one think we're going to have a really good year and 2013 be a great year.

If no one wants to jump then you have to pick them up, like get on a plane and fly to Miami like Alabama or drive to Atlanta like Auburn.

Hubbs still stands by his statement that Shannon has had zero contact from anyone at UT including Dooley and Hart.

This being true is the only exception. It would all make sense if true.

Ex lsu player was just on Espn and gave credit for lsu's winning to chavis.. Said he's the best dc in the country.. I'd love to crush their hearts..

I know there are some on this board who believe the sky is falling and believe there is no interest in coaching at Tennessee, but there has to be no shortage of good coaches who would love to be at UT. Shannon may be or for some reason might not be the guy, but there are a lot of good ones out there who would do a great job. Another day or 2 to wrap things up will not hurt anything. It has to be up to Hart, Dooley and Co. to find the man and do the right deal. They have the data and have the accountability to make the hire.

If it is not Shannon, I predict many will think the world ended, but it could be that his agent is holding out for unreasonable terms. He did when Arkansas came calling. We will survive this and we will move ahead to a much improved season in 2012. Be cool.

Is it even conceivable that this staff would have no contact with Shannon. I could see Hubbs saying neither is interested, but it seems illogical that UT would not even reach out to CRS.

It's simple, there is no buzz around Dooley as coach. That was about as ho hum as it gets. Now he's pretty much in a win or else situation, no one is going to stick their necks out for him.

Just hire Lance Thompson. Get through this next disappointing year, then wipe any memory of all the screwups of Mike Hamilton away by parting ways with Doolittle.

Look, if we can't get Shannon, which it isn't looking very promising, and if they don't decide to hire zook...I think in the end everyone would be very pleased with Thompson.

This is Dooley make or break year its gonna be hard for CDD to fill these positions. He has to convince people to put there neck out there. Its not that the roster isnt attractive or the potential is there alot of good coches dont have faith in CDD. His fault not making any excuses. And with us not being in a bowl game getting exposure and not having strong DC in place is gonna hirt us in 3wk when NSD comes around CDD needs to hurry.

I honestly think its chavis , he gets emotional about tennessee, a hire hasn't been made yet, and most of all I think dooley will make it right with chavis, because he loves this university and there is no better person to lead the defense than chavis.
