Just for fun, figured we could use some fun around here, post your "top 3 no morals" list of candidates and which one you would pick.

Mine would go:
1) Butch Davis
2) Jim Tressel
3) Bobby Petrino

Good list and definitly high on the no morals. I'd change the list this way.

1 Petrino
2 Tressel
3 Davis - He actually didn't get punished directly, only his staff

1. Paterno
2. Petrino
3. Todd Graham

Paterno's name should be mentioned in any discussion involving morals and NCAA football.

Your love of Jimbo Fisher makes me scratch my head, but you sir are spot on about Paterno. We should NEVER forget! Those kids deserve us to remember.

No love for Fisher. Just trying to keep an open mind about those that are realistic possibilities, but I'm Gruden until proven otherwise.

Serious question, did Petrino do anything other than the whole woman-on-the-side affair? That's pretty scummy, but at the same time I wouldn't consider him a necessarily dangerous hire because of it. Tressel might be the most faithful of NCAA husbands, but he showed a complete lack of institutional control at OSU. That's something I'd be much more worried about in a coaching hire. The odds of Petrino repeating his mistake seem slim in comparison.

I'm not sure Petrino could recruit to Tennessee as well as Butch Davis, that is why I put him further down my list of who I would personally hire if I were hiring a coach with no morals. Because Butch Davis is only sorta dirty, he could actually have success here.

Bolted on the Falcons in the middle of the seaon and middle of the night , was flying all over the place on LOU, and ARKY we all now.

Dirty as the day is long.....but can coach

If we're discounting baggage and future sanctions then:

1. Butch Davis - Championship caliber coach who would be have UT back to the SEC championship within 3 years. And then he would be fired after 5 years because he got UT in a world of trouble.

2. Pete Carroll - Give him a blank check and let him do his thing. He will win championships and will leave UT the same way he left USC.

3. Jim Tressell - Another winning coach. He could get UT playing hard and be back in the SEC championship in 3 years.

Mike Leach

Actually, I'm not convinced that leach did anything wrong at Texas Tech. However, there is baggage attached.

Top 3 as in coaching ability or Top 3 as in "no morals?"

No Morals:

1. Petrino
2. Petrino
3. Petrino

Coaching Ability

1a. Tressel (has a NC, BP doesn't)
1b. Petrino
3. Davis

YOUR top 3 if you weren't considering any moral implications.

And I revise my current list. Sean Payton goes straight to the top, forgot about him (no I don't actually think we can get him).

What did he do?

Or are you really thinking that no defense has ever eluded to physical harm in a game that requires full physical contact and some modicum of violence?

That's a debate for another thread that I won't have...

But to go with the list

Petrino is definitely a moral slimebucket.

Tressel is a cheater so that is immoral but in an even more sinister way and I will turn in my UT fan card if he is hired.

Davis kind of is in this same list because where there is smoke there is fire, and programs he has been a part of have crashed and burned too much for him to be clean.

I believe lying to the AD about the incident was a bigger issue.

Also not interested in having that debate, but the guy has been suspended for a year, so there is a stigma attached to his name. If the NFL wasn't interested in having him back right away, I would take him at Tennessee in a heart beat.
