It will be hard to find a coach who loves the University of Tennessee as much as Coach Fulmer. I have never seen a coach break down like that. Tennessee will be sorry that he is gone, mark my words. I am ashamed that I ever wished him gone.

Majors fans said the same thing. We will be fine.

I hate that he will not be on the sidelines next season. I have friends who are much older than me that remember the Majors deal and they say it was the same way back then. I wish CPF all the best and I hope he stays on in some role with the AD.

It was sad to see him reacting to what just happened today. For those who are being flippant and joking about him, I would just reiterate that no matter what, the man loved UT and loved the kids he coached.

I don't think too many people every questioned his loyalty...It's his coaching that has got him in this bind.

If Fulmer had been in the hospital this year and Chavis had pushed him out for the top job, then yeah, it would have been pretty much the same.

I was no fan of Majors, and I haven't really thought much about it in years, but all this "great man" stuff that people have been throwing around about Fulmer at the end of his tenure have made me think back to how he began it. People said things like "Johnny Majors IS Tennessee football!" then too.

It is indeed a sad day in Tennessee. I really feel bad for the man. But I have been one of those who thought he should be gone for a couple of years. He has done a lot of good for this University and its players the right way. Like Hamilton said, change is always hard but had to take place. The program hasn't been much in the last few years. Last year wasn't that great, we beat mediocre teams to finish out. We had to count on too many teams getting beat for us to get there. It just so happened and we got lucky. Everyone just needs to settle down and let the smoke clear. It will work itself out and hopefully the players will move on eventually and stay here at UT. And hopefully the recruits will do the same and see the family that the players are and stilll be VOLS. Wish Phil the best and am proud to say he coached here. Hope the teams sends him out in style, with wins and bowl win.

Sad to see it end like this. But coaching is and always will be about W'S and L's not feel good and 9-3 and 8-4 etc and then toilet bowls for those of you returning from Mars or Pluto we now have a BCS and boy it would be nice to be in it every now and then not greedy just on occasion.Hopefully you won't think bad of me for wanting such a thing.

There's nothing wrong with the high standards we have now. Phil raised the bar and for that we should be grateful.

A friend of mine just asked me what I thought of Fulmer not being on the sideline next year. Well, I loved Fulmer He bleed Orange. He is a legend. Will I miss him? Yes, because Fulmer was Tennessee. I was one calling for his head, but that was mainly due to frustrations. After last weeks game against Wyoming I sing a new tune. It was time. For a team like Wyoming to come into Neyland Stadium on Homecoming and beat us, That is beyond pathetic. It wasn't like Texas or Oklahoma beat us it was Wyoming! So, while I will miss Phil on the sidelines I say happy trails to you.

Yeah well, he should break down after a season like this one. If we all weren't emotionally numb the entire state of Tennessee should have been collectively sobbing after the loss to Wyoming.

I'm sick of hearing about "loyalty" and "bleeding orange." I'll take a coach who wins and even uses this job as a stepping stone over the UT daddy who allows his program to run wild.
