I am excited that we are back being considered among the elites. It just doesn't feel right in college football when certain programs are down, including us. I love how Butch Jones has put his heart and soul into getting us back to where we belong. I would love nothing more than an undefeated season and a national title, but if that doesn't happen, I'm happy with the progress we've made, especially the damage that Dooley did. Win or lose, my blood runs orange until the day I die. GBO

I think we have to at least win the East to be still considered elite. Put up or shutup time.

I understand why you are hesitant to embrace the expectations, I too have been a life long Vol fan and have had my hopes dashed and heart broken time and time again.

But.

This is our year. This is not our only year. This is the first of many. However, We are going to have a phenomenal year.

Own it.

I actually thought when I clicked on the thread it was gonna say "no matter what happens this year Butch is not on the hotseat." To which I agree for the record.

I have to say, this has been the First off season in quite a few years that I have enjoyed, I have been able to be Optimistic with reasoning to support it. Now, the wait is over, I hope Team 120 has Goose Bumps on em all night anticipating the Azz Whipn they are about to put on Appy..

Go Vols!

Its gonna be a blast. I will always remember the kids from this team. Should be a fun ride. Orange Swarm in affect in 19 hours

I'll be very disappointed if we don't reach Atlanta, but I'll always appreciate the guys who passed on millions from the NFL to come back and suit up for the Vols 1 more year. That takes an amazing amount of love for this team, university, and this fan base. It shows me these boys believe Rocky Top is about to be back on top. GO MOTHER******G BIG ORANGE!

it'll be nice to pull for teams ranked ahead of us to lose....i miss doing that.

not only do you get the excitement of UT winning, but that great feeling of watching another team's misfortune become our additional gain...

I think the lessons were learned last season. This same team was 5 points from a playoff spot. Leadership in every position group. The biggest thing for me is the return of JRM and Cam Sutton. Some special things will happen. Some frustrating things will happen but we will win. A lot.

It's only progress if UT wins. Pre-season hype means nothing. The actual journey begins tonight.

I could live with something not feeling right if it meant Bama was in the cellar. In fact I could tolerate such a condition for many years.

Yes, we have the best fan base in the country. Near or at top is where we belong.

Winning the East is not going to have the media considering us as 'elite'. Look at UF; they won the East last season and the media is still saying the gators are trying to get back to elite status. But certainly winning the East will be a significant step on the road back to greatness. So 'thank you' to Butch and his first true recruiting class who all wanted to be part of that journey.
