Troy also took FSU to the wire last year and were game against GT. In 04, they beat Mizzou and gave USCe all they wanted.

They pop up once in awhile and have shown they're not intimidated by more talented teams.

Mizzou and USC weren't anything special in 2004. FSU was crappy enough last year to warrant some serious coaching changes. Georgia Tech was pretty dang average, too. Florida will wipe the field with Troy.

I see your point though I think Troy will push them a little harder than you apparently do.

OTOH, if they don't run their offense then how does that help them prepare to run their offense against UT? I know you get real time with the techniques et al... but that's only half of it.

I still think the advantage goes to UT. UF will get better as the season goes along. The later you play them, the more difficult they'll be... barring significant injury. If they were to have an OL go down, things will get much worse for them.
on point one......you're just wrong.

point 2, i alluded to that in my original post. they dont' have to show their hand. they can be as vanilla as they need to.

and dont' you think that while they are "prepareing" so to speak for Troy and WKY, that they may also start prepping for TN probably 3 weeks prior to the game starting?

i mean seriously, how much game planning is going to be necessary for those 1st two games????

i'd bet a dollar to a hundred that the two weeks or practice for the two first games will have some work installed to get ready for the TN game........so in that respect..........they don't have to show their hand prior to that..............

The point was specifically about their not being intimidated by teams with obviously more talent. UF has more talent but they're also green.

FSU had enough talent to be ranked 9 going into the season... and played UF to the wire. Their only loss by more than 7 was WFU.

GT won their division in the ACC and lost by three to WVU in a bowl... and had the best receiver in the country. They played UGA tight as well as ND who was ranked 2 at the time and went to a BCS bowl. Wake only beat them 9-6 in the ACC championship.

Neither team was great... but they were talented and had alot more certainty on both sides of the ball than UF does this year... or so they thought.

I guess we'll see. I'm not saying UF won't blow them out or an upset is likely. I'm saying they're not a complete rollover and if UF doesn't take them seriously they could find them in the same situation as FSU last year... winning ugly.

There's little doubt that UF will be prepping for UT in camp. There's no doubt they'll work on things for the UT game as soon as they get comfortable leads in those games. However, what they don't run in those games won't help them against UT. Game speed isn't the same as practice speed as you know. It isn't so much about what they show though. It is how they execute.

UT's advantage is that they'll have executed or attempted to against better competition. The biggest disadvantage is that they'll be more banged up in all likelihood.

I think both teams would have been better having played one gimme and a challenge. UF has what looks to be two gimmees (though Troy again has surprised some people who overlooked them) and UT has scheduled two teams that can beat them.

It sounds like this is for real now as Cut thinks it will play into the areas of experience (QB, TE and RB).

Did you ever doubt that a conservationist guy like Fulmer would have allowed Cut to use precious time in the spring to work on something they weren't sure they would use?

Words are pretty cheap but when Fulmer starts allowing things to tie up practice time you can beat their serious.

We'll just to say one thing, In an interview that Sports Talk did with Trooper, the question was asked if the no-huddle was a novelty or if this was for real, Trooper took offense to it and said that when we play Cal, from the first play to the last play we would be in no-huddle! I for one hope we do start this a keep it, we do need to stop following the pack....it's time for the big dogs to mark some territory :whistling:.

No Huddle Offense: (different viewpoints)
....Optimist: "brilliant, innovative offensive scheme"
....Pessimist: "Offensive Line not good enough to come out and knock the D-line off the line of scrimmage."
