Justin Wilcox has a DL that is so thin that our best DT is a backup defensive end from USC.

Div. I Ranking Defense
Rushing 167.9 (80th)
Passing 239.3 (85th)
Overall 85th

Notre Dame has plenty of talent, unless you buy what may becoming more clear, that recruiting services artificially inflate the ratings of ND commits.
Look at the offenses we have played, and it is clear that ND is doing less with much more than TN.

Div. I Ranking Defense
Rushing 164.6 (78th)
Passing 228.6 (74th)
Overall 78th

Will Muschamp?

Div. I Ranking Defense
Rushing 119.1 (28th)
Passing 147.9 (2nd)
Overall 5th

It is not his overall numbers, it is not even having a bad game against UCLA or giving up 28 to Oklahoma. Giving up 28 to Iowa State? Not okay. Yet sandwiched in the losses, he shut down a fearsome offense in Lincoln. He has had a headscratcher of a season, with an inability to do enough on defense to help his anemic offense avoid embarrassing defeats.
Sep 25 UCLA Lost 12-34
Oct 2 @Oklahoma Lost 20-28
Oct 16 @Nebraska Won 20-13
Oct 23 Iowa St. Lost 21-28
Oct 30 Baylor Lost 22-30

Monte Kiffin has taken a team with absurdly more talent on defense than TN and he has gotten worse results.

Div. I Ranking Offense Defense
Rushing 151.3 (57th)
Passing 275.8 (106th)
Overall 95th

What is clear here is that the most underachieving DC in the United States is the father of the king of smirk, Mr. Monte Kiffin.

outside of kennard (who they are playing out of position because their LBs suck so bad) name a single sure fire nfl player on SCs defense.

But Kelly said the Trojans played up to their talent level against Cal.

"In their two-deep, out of their 44 players they have 12 five-star recruits and 26 four-star recruits," Kelly said. "I don't know if there is anybody in the country who has that. I keep hearing USC is down in talent. We have zero five-star recruits in our top 44 and 11 four-star recruits."

Chip Kelly listed a good number for me.

You are a crack smoker if you think only 1 of the 5 and 4 stars on that roster will be in the NFL.

this same d sucked last year (yet lost 3 guys to the nfl) with a head coach who you'd guys cut your left nut off to get. arguing kiffin is the problem is a bit silly. and cal got shut down by the 118th ranked defense in the country last week. i think we can safetely assume shutting down cal didn't mean much.

I honestly think Lane believes that he can outscore anyone and that D is secondary to the cause.

if SC had a decent D they'd probably be undefeated. i very much doubt kiffin doesn't care about the D.

Shareece Wright
Jurrell Casey.
Nick Perry.
Chris Galippo

I could move into young guys who will make lots of $$$ in the NFL but there is no point.

true. but at sc kiffin has been anything but an ego maniac. actually his interviews usually put me to sleep.

I think being blindsided by probation took a little wind out of his sails.

I can't tell if Dro's serious or not.

Does Kiffin have an ego; Does a bear **** in the woods?

galippo is a future nfl player? he wasn't even starting until last week and he's a senior.

all good coaches have an ego. the question is whether his is so great he'd decide he didn't want a defense. and i'd say that seems fairly unlikely.

I think he trusts his dad and Ed. I think deep down he believes he can outscore anybody if it falters. He understands the need for a defense, but the offense is the star. He is an OC, he should think that way.

Their defense should be better than it is under Monte.

I'd be willing to bet that at least 8 players from Kiffin's current roster go on to play in the NFL. The affect of the sanctions haven't even kicked in yet. Their defense sucks because their coaching sucks.

their depth on D is very questionable. hence playing kennard at middle linebacker. i do think that a different scheme would ahve better results since theirs requires elite talent to dominate. their offense has improved considerably under kiffin and the playcalling has been elite. there is no question about that. dude's a stud OC. remains to be seen whether he is a good head coach though.

6 of whom are on the offense. the 2 on defense aren't upper classmen. and once again did carroll's coaching suck too?

I thought the playcalling against Oregon was average at best. It is the only SC game I've watched start to finish this year.
