Benefitted the bookmakers with that 3.5 point spread. I wondered how many bettors were upset that it isn't attempted in this situation.

GO VOLS!!!

are you new to football? game was over no time on clock that's how the game works you can't kick an extra point the game is over.

I was thinking the same thing. In the NFL I know they kick at the end of regulation. Or at least they did last year. Not sure the NCAA rules - but in vegas - it cost some people some money

It's not required to run it in college. In the NFL they do because point differential is a tie breaking criteria.

Lol. Running up the score to win 35-31???? Get out of here with that class talk. You kick the XP because that's what you do after you score.

You had a weeks pay on TN minus 3.5 didn't you?

It doesn't hurt to not rub your opponents nose in it either.

Georgia on the other hand puts a pic of their guy that ended Tuttle's 2015 season on an arguably intentional cheap shot on the game ticket and turns off the scoreboard seconds after the game ended. They're a trashy, classless program and fan base.

The XP isn't attempted if regulation is over and the score differential is greater than 2. A few years ago in a ECU game they had to knee the ball after a hail Mary because of that rule. Was funny to watch the refs have to clear all the press and players off the field for a knee with no time left

Perhaps I'm mistaken, but the PAT wasn't attempted because it had no impact on the outcome of the game... not because there was no time on the clock.

If we would have been down 6 or 7 and the same play happened, then the PAT would have been allowed.

I was at the Florida-KY game in 2007. KY trailed by 14 and scored a TD on the final play. The PAT was not attempted, so they lost by 8.

If the extra point was needed to tie or win the game, they would have kicked it.

Perhaps you didn't notice the part of my post where I said "the PAT wasn't attempted because it had no impact on the outcome of the game". This would also apply to the example you've provided above.

Not after you just won like a boss. You just start celebrating and get off the field. You kick that XP and someone from Ga probably goes in and breaks your kicker's leg and who could blame him. Some of you just do not know the game. NFL does it because of tie breakers that can come into play for post season.

If TN had been down by 6 rather than 3, they would have kicked it. You can kick it if needed.

It has nothing to do with no time being left since the clock doesn't run during a conversion attempt. Do you think if UT had been down 35-28 and then scored to pull to 35-34 as time expired that UT would not have had the opportunity to tie the game or go for 2? Of course they would have the opportunity. In this case there was simply no need for it.

Thread starts off with OP fully understanding the rule and simply speculation how many bets it messed up. Now we have multiple rule explanations, posters contradicting each other and one himself. Fun thread!
