I am tired of getting beat and embarassing the SEC by losing to out of conference teams.

The bowl game would only extend our misery. Maybe they can take the time to reflect and rebuild with a new coach and staff.

I would have liked to see Fulmer coach in one last bow game, but now I'm all for calling Vandy and telling them the game's off.

There is nothing good about not making a bowl. It is impossible for me to care less about whether we are embarrassing anyone in the SEC other than ourselves.

actually right now there might be for us, should we make a bowl we would have to wait until after the game in december for the new coach to be named and come in and take over. this way we get a jump start on the new staff, not having to wait to name one till after the bowl would mean we could offer a gruden or a kiffen the job before other teams that might fire their coach seasons are over. This might be a blessing in disguise because of our change of coaching situation right now.

Holiday plans for Shreveport would have had no effect on the timing or results of the coaching search, other than the possibility that you might have seen a new coach call his first game in December of '08 rather than September of '09.

A bowl game gives you 3-4 more weeks of practice---big advantage to bowl teams.

Actually, what was said before our loss yesterday is that Fulmer wanted to coach the bowl game if we had made one. I don't think they would have told him 'no' if he had wanted to coach it. In that situation I don't see how it would be advantageous to play in the bowl game.

The situation changes completely once a new man is named.
