“We talked about it. I said, hey, you should embrace it … We moved up because the teams in front of us lost … We lose, somebody else is going to move up … I said while you’re there, you guys have a chance to play as the No. 1 team in the country … look forward to the challenge that’s coming your way.” Rick Barnes. How Lucky we are to have that guy Coaching the Tennessee Basketball Team! Perfect fit.... Hall of Famer too.

I don't think this team will be challenged even in late January.
I watch a lot of college hoops and no one is close to Tennessee.
Tennessee is like those Gonzaga teams when they were better than everyone else AND kept improving as the season progressed.

Trust me, we’ll be challenged. 😉🧡

If only it were this easy. Baseball and basketball have crap happen way too often. Then again, I love this optimism and would love to come back late January and eat my crow w gravy. So…

SEC basketball, top to bottom, will be historically good and deep this year. Could be one of the best years ever.

Nine Conference teams are currently ranked in the AP, 5 of the top 10, and 4 others are receiving votes.

We will be challenged, as Conference play will be a bloodbath.

Best team doesn't always win, often in fact lose.
I would take 28-3 in a heartbeat!
Of course you would, everybody would, that would have to be the greatest season, ever, for the Vols. Right ? Too lazy to Google it, got a bet on the Knicks and Hawks, too busy following it on my phone and posting on VN

You must be done with your finals to enjoin the forum for some personal abuse! 😉
How'd you do this semester? ...and that lab project?

If that requires a lengthy reply, feel free to redirect me toward the Dugout.

Yep, the SEC is a mine field. Auburn, bammer, UK, the top 3 worries, then Omiss, Texas, A&M, Florida, Ga, --------+ ALL Road games in the SEC are very difficult. Rick Barnes knows losses are inevitable.
Wonder if VN will lose its mind if we drop a few close together in the SEC?

What am I thinking - some on here will call for CRB’s retirement after the first loss!

Never underestimate the Legion.

We’re 9-0 at the moment, and they only crawl out from under their rocks to participate in gamethreads…well, or to dig a hole or two. They lurk… 👀

Ans: Very well. I really like this time in my life.

...and that lab project?
Ans: That's going well. A key piece of equipment arrived a few weeks ago, so I was and am excited about that. I'll long post about it in the dugout. ASAP, which means within a few days to within week and make sure to include your user name so you're alerted.

Just dumb. We face a serious challenge next game and have decent odds of being 14-1 after that game.

@Drewbydoo is a lot of things but dumb isn’t one of them. He strikes me as an amazing young man, an underclassman at GT, whose life experience outside the classroom is exemplary. I’ll admit this particular post borders on being a little overzealous, but the attack is uncalled for if you consider yourself a centered, knowledgeable fan, and I’m sure you do.

“My disappointment wasn’t in coming to Tennessee and losing a game. It was they kind of manhandled us. I can’t remember the last time I had a team get beat like that in rebounds” wahahahaha yesss

Agreed tomorrow's game at FL and our road games vs UK and AU are the biggest ones on the menu right now. Florida has some length to throw at us we haven't really seen and are fairly deep at the post and they have 4 guys shooting 38+ from 3 at decent volume including one of those post guys.

I can see this team (healthy) losing no more than 3-5 games.

agreed with so few players the margins are tight.. a single injury or hot day can mean everything. All it takes is one guy to lose his mind to change the whole narrative. Some secondary guy has a career shooting night.. some star has a bad night or gets hurt. Basketball really comes down to how 3 or 4 dudes do any given night. Football is less of that. Its why NBA players get paid so much more than players in other leagues on average.
