Anyone have one of these? I heard they are releasing a new streamlined version in June.

Ever since watching the "Icons" series of G4TV I have been itching to play Mario. I thought it might be fun and they are relatively inexpensive. I have grown board with PSP and am looking for something with more a "fun factor".

I'd wait for the slim version in June.

I don't have one but have played a game or two on it. I'd love to play the new Mario. I'm right there with you. Looks great. Just not sure there's much else I'd want. Since you have a kid, I bet you would get a bunch of use out of it.

The new Mario would be fun and I think Mario Kart looks ok as does Mario and Luigi. Then you have Metroid. I would not mind trying MegaMan (or RockMan as it was orignally called per "Icons" on G4TV the other day). Others that sound fun: Castlevania and Bomberman,

Might want to play Metroid before buying it. I stayed with a buddy that had it. I asked about it and he just said, "Ehh. It's not as good as it could be." That was disappointing. Certainly looks cool.

They are releasing an Opera browser for the thing very soon. Having the wifi in there with a browser would be cool. Probably much easier to use than the PSP one.

I'd like to try Mario Kart over wifi. That game was fun as hell on N64.

You can buy a GBA Advance flash card setup and use it. My buddy had probably 8 or 10 games loaded on his for the trip (DS games, not just GBA games).

Rumour is the new slim version is only going to be about $20 more than the current one.

$129 for the new one which is really about the same. Walmart has the current one for $119.

I'll have to check out the flash card setup.

One more thing to consider...EB/Gamestop might do some sort of DS trade in for the new DS lite. Picking up a cheap old one might be the way to go. Ebay might get a few more when the new one comes out.

They are selling used DS for $109 and will give you $50 trade in towards a new DS Lite.
