NFL 'Fed Up' With Jermod McCoy's Agent Prior To NFL Draft

I don’t expect to see him play on TV ever again. He didn’t have the speed to keep up with his man in the last game he played and then he missed an entire year due to knee injury.

Hope he gets to rip off a NFL owner before anyone finds out he can’t play anymore.

Wish him well as a former Volunteer.

Not sure how to read any of this — In the pros, if your agent doesn’t play hardball, I imagine the teams will take as much advantage of a player as they can. It’s a big business where millions are at stake. The ownership wants a service at the cheapest price possible. They have to look at investment strategically too, across multiple positions of need, etc.

And as much as we’d like to believe that this level of sports reinforces the positive life lessons that we hope our kids gain from playing, it just isn’t true. In fact, it’s the opposite. The lessons it teaches, in most cases, are among the worst in terms of personal character, humility, commitment, and loyalty. The college game is at that point too, and probably always has been. It was just better concealed in years past.

All that being said, good luck to all of us in this shark tank of a world! It isn’t getting any easier!

Beast at Oregon State.
I’d not call him a “beast” at Oregon St. he wasn’t even all conference in the pac-12. The pac-12 doesn’t typically have quality db play. From first team that season only one went higher than rd 4 in draft and that was Travis Hunter as a WR. The second team had a second round pick, Good player? Obviously. But far from a beast.

You do realize that was Jeremiah Smith, right??
Every CB he played against couldn’t keep up with him.

That’s not the insult you thought it was lol.

I haven’t watched most of OSU’s games, but some people have stopped him, else they wouldn’t have been chanting “fire Day”. Coincidentally, only some of those people are going to start in the NFL.

I realize I should have said “slow him down”, which McCoy did not. Smith had a career type day against McCoy.

Yet you know people have stopped him???

What the hell is wrong with people like you?
How can you be this separated from reality!??
To say something like that.

And I am on the record for criticism on McCoy for not trying to come back. So I’m not a huge fan of his, but bro what you just said is absolute idiocy.

I don’t care about McCoy. Time will tell but if he was completely healthy and did not play, then I don’t consider him worth any loyalty from this fan base. For example, it they brought him back to introduce him at halftime, I would sit.

So it continues.Everyone still confident he’s a first rounder?
Yes. While the DB class is considered the deepest position in this class, the overall draft class this year is just pretty weak. There a very few players with consensus 1st round grades and McCoy is consistently one of them.

If you listen to a lot of NFL insiders, they will tell you that the combine is losing popularity every year. Also, the top players are increasingly electing not to perform at the combine, and instead electing to do pro days.

The combine is basically amped up gym class. Okay class, we gonna do some standing jumps, 20 pushups, 4 sprints...

To not pay a player his nil who is injured would be recruiting suicide. Every agent and every team competing for talent would use this against you. Worst idea ever! You throw the dice on every player you sign, just deal with it.

This is correct.

Steph Curry is earning $750k a game while sitting currently with a knee that's probably better able to play basketball than the average American.

Should he be back? I have no idea but he doesn't feel quite ready. The Warriors will give him a lot of latitude despite paying him ridiculous money. Even if cleared, I'll wager if he doesn't "feel it's right," he'll spend more time on the bench.

Would a timid, worried about his knee McCoy have been helpful to the Vols?

Does a player going at half or three quarters speed screw up your D?

Would other guys have had to help him out and perhaps make their own game worse?

There's more to all this than "he was cleared and should have played."

Well our definitions DIVERGE. Beauty contest recognition doesn’t factor into mine. I remember him in Beaver games and was ecstatic we landed him. So if I was the only one who saw BEAST, I’ll wear it.

Funny actually m quite the opposite. Not taking up for McCoy nor his agent but I’m about fed up with Roger Goodall and the NFL. He’s out of control.

After all the expert opinions in this thread, McCoy still is projected as a 1st round draft pick...
There's been no reason for it to change yet. That 1st round projection is probably based on him being able to prove his knee is healed. That happens at either the combine or the pro-day. He only did the bench press at the combine and is waiting till March 31st I think for Tenn Pro-day to do his true workout.
