This piece said the "completion of entry plazas" is the last task and it's done by Fall of 2026.

I don’t think the Gate 10 ramp is coming down. I know that was part of the original plan, but looks like they are slapping on some brick facade and fresh coat of paint. It does seem to be the best way to move large numbers in and out of Neyland. Still, it’s a horrible aesthetic. Closing The road in front of the stadium on game day is a huge improvement.

That hotel and plaza is coming in the next decade. Maybe they just decided to hold off until then to deal with it.

I’m good with the brick facade though. Needs to be done all the way around.

I don’t think one has anything to do with the other. The entertainment district isn’t funded under the football budget. The hotel needs to be next to TBA, not blocking the stadium. That’s a travesty IMO. TBA is used much more for basketball and concerts and they could have a shared area much like Stare Faem in Atlanta.

Thought it was worth sharing. Pretty impressive.

Those two have been a great team and have added a stability that we long for, for years along with the university president.

How long have they been working on this? Surely it wasn't done in one offseason. This stuff is engineering beauty the way they can transition from old to new.

Nice improvements. Be glad when they’ve covered up the rust on the beams.

I like it. On TV the stadium will look the same as last year but the fan experience, way bigger concourses and better bathrooms, will be infinitely better. Neyland reminds me a lot of old hospitals. They just got buildings added to them over the years and feel chaotic and disorganized. It is nice to see there is a plan and since no one expects Neyland to expand anymore they can make what they have work.
Need to add 10-15k more seats

Like Vandy basketball arena. Like halls in a horror movie.

I’m not saying the entertainment district will fund the plaza. I’m saying they may be waiting to build the plaza to ā€œfitā€ it in with the entertainment district. But that’s just speculation.

Or they could be doing what UT often does and promise one thing, then deliver another. The initial renderings of the south side facade and plaza looked MUCH better than the updated ones in 2022. This, after kicking that can down the road from the last renovations. They seem hellbent on making sure that river side is never attractive from the most frequent view shown on TV every Saturday.
